Do this for me: pretend this roster plays for South Carolina and not UT.....would you still be predicting 8 or more wins for them? I can imagine your analysis would go something like this......"USCjr replaces everyone on both sides of the line, question mark at QB, defense was terrible last year and they have the same coordinators, inexperience everywhere, brutal schedule...they're a 5 win team at best"
Absolutely SC would win 8 or more with our talent. Even more likely than us because Spurrier would score crazy amount of points on offense if he had our offensive talent. Also, our defense was so bad last couple of years it can only get better - and we are not replacing the whole D line - Johnson, Maggit, Vereen are back, no? Add to that few juco and freshmen studs that show up ready to play and we could be a lot better on defense than last year. O-line is the question mark, but if offensive skill positions do really well it may take pressure off the line because it will be more difficult for defenses to figure out how to attack us given all our options on offense. I think people will be surprised how well this team does this year - this just may be the year Tennessee football finally gets back to where it belongs.
