Loss to Mizz. ( Offensive Speed, wears on the young D. Loss by 9)

If Pinkel beats Jones with the two respective rosters... then fire Jones and hire Pinkel. They aren't that "fast" any more having lost their best playmakers at WR, QB, and RB. (being facetious because I REALLY don't think MU will beat UT this fall).

And there's really no way what's left of their D should be able to stop UT... or anyone else for that matter.

Mizzou- worst to first... then first to worst. I will NOT be surprised if Mizzou lost to UK this fall.

Either way, the winning streak extends to a nice even 10 years in a row over Tennessee this year. Helluva "rivalry" we got going here....

every time i read your posts, i think of the randy quaid character in the stands from "major league"

I would be surprised, especially since that 2012 mess without a RB, starting a 3rd string oline, and playing with the worst backup QB ever (hi Berkstresser) still managed to soundly beat UK.

We really need to beat Mizzou this year. Mizzou and USC are two games we need to win consistently if we are ever to climb back to the top of this conference. JMO

LOL!! With regards to Florida, and ONLY Florida, this doesn't miss the mark by a whole lot. I have more confidence that we'll give Oklahoma a run for the money on the road and Bama a tussle in Neyland than we will a "bad Florida team" this year. I'm not sure I'll ever see UT beat Florida again in my lifetime (btw, according to actuarial tables I got about 30 more years of life expectancy).

6 wins in the regular season. One of which is either UF or Mizzou. We will win the bowl game. Quite frankly, I believe we would be an 8 or 9 win team in any other conference.

I voted 8 but I didn't know if we were considering a bowl win or not. Honestly, I'm expecting 7-8 including a bowl win if our coaching and talent improve as they potentially can and should over last year. 8-5 or 7-6, that's achievable, wouldn't you agree?

I agree with you. The OL will gel by the time August 31st rolls around. IMO the DL will be a pleasant surprise. Because we will have more speed on the field, we will not have to play zone so much. We are actually upgrading on DL. McCullers provided very little push up the middle. Hood was a better DT to me.

As I have said all along, we will get 5 wins in 2014 and then in 2015 we will explode with 8 or more wins.

You have to love Vol fans heart, it never ceases to amaze me. Thinking positive with the heart is possibly better than dealing with reality, at least at this time in UT's rebuilding process. 8 or 9 wins, why not? I only wish!
Go Vols

45% think we are winning 8 or more games. I just hope Butch knows what the ridiculous expectations are for him from this fan base........good Lord.

The success of the rest of the league since we have won the league or national title has made folks batty. Particularly with the resurrection of Bama & Florida adding two more titles. 8 wins will get you fired around here under normal circumstances (Majors, Fulmer et al). This year we can win eight games and still lose to UF, UGA, OU & UA, so a ceiling of only 8 wins is really a concession due to our current situation, all things considered.

To me, any of our big 4 games this year should only add to the total of 8, as I expect us to win the rest of those other games on the schedule. I'm not counting on beating Bama or Oklahoma, but the other two could be beaten. Going1 for 4 would have to be considered a success. Anything more and bUTch is up for coach of the year. I can still hope for the best in early May. Seems like a few others do too.

I would love to agree with u 100% but I can't. I hate Florida more than anyone on Earth. I hope they lose in every sport. However, they have a 50/50 chance of beating us & the last decade has been good for them. Lastly I believe we can beat them & beat anyone if we don't have self inflicting wounds.

I really thought 2012 would be the year we finally beat Florida again. Boy the vols let me down huge.

when UT is up and UF is us, UF wins. when UT is down and UF is down, UF wins.

the only time we beat florida with regularity was the brief period when spurrier was on the outs and Zook took over.

Just like we only beat Bama during the era of the "mikes" prior to Saban taking over.

If CBJ wants to endear the hearts of UT fans everywhere he can have a mediocre season (5-7 or 6-6) but he needs to make it his singular focus to destroy and embarrass the Gators in Neyland this year. We need to jump on them and crush their throats.

If UT does this, in my mind it will be a great step forward, even if we lose other games.

My official prediction is 6-6 (up from 5-7). I think our ceiling is 7-5. Even if we beat a team we are not supposed to beat, you cannot assume that this means we will beat all the teams that we are supposed to beat.

I think the three games in Oxford, Athens and Columbia are unfortunate. I almost wish we had a repeat of last year where we went to Tuscaloosa and Gainesville and got UGA and USC at home again. I think that would make my outlook on the season better. Road games are tough in the SEC outside of Lexington and Nashville.

We really need to beat Mizzou, Florida or both to make it a solid year. If they can win all home games except Bama and then steal a game in Columbia or Oxford, I think you would have your special season.

I agree. I think our only road win comes against Vandy. I don't know much about Ole Miss, but I hear they were pretty good last year. A win in Columbia or Athens could happen, but not likely. If we can win our home games excluding Bama, and beat Vandy on the road, I'm happy. But I agree, UF is a must. Probably going into that game 2-2, looking ahead to 4-2 after UF and Chat. Then lose the next 3, win the 3 after that, finishing 7-5 and bowl bound. Happy, happy, happy.

8-4.

IMO, this team will still be trying to find it's identity early in the season which will lead to some losses early, notably against Oklahoma and Georgia. However, if they can pull off an upset against Florida and Ole Miss, reaching 8-4 is very possible.

Big couple of "ifs" at the end there.

If Ole Miss solidifies this year I'd say I like our chances better against Florida due to home field advantage and Missouri due to their turnover. Ole Miss shined at moments last year with young talent but still managed a better season than us. Also OM will depend on what Bo Wallace shows up. Who's to say we can't replicate that progress on our own road back from mediocrity
