We blew it not getting Nico significant, meaningful snaps earlier in the season particularly against OOC. We are gonna go into next year with essentially a true freshman in game time experience and we won’t have a frickin’ clue what we have. Woulda been nice to know what we’re working with besides a few snaps of handoff duty. Think his snaps vs UVA we’re just to appease the crowd.
I was thinking about this… amd thinking about Joe finally doing some running… Coaches need to make Milton run a bunch more. It helps us win or he gets hurt and Nico plays. Win-win

No we didn’t. We’re 5-1

Listening to the post game pods, everyone seemed to do decent job threading the needle on their Milton analysis. They were honest about his poor play without being jerks.
Well, except Eric Cain. He came across like an arrogant brat to me.

Oh well, kudos to the rest of the local media that I listened to.

Cain thinks his football knowledge and analysis is better than the coaching staffs. A lot of the local guys suffers from this. As do Vol fans. It’s a weird phenomenon

Here is a blatant PI no-call in the first quarter. DB grabs and holds Nimrod's arm before the ball arrives. A call there likely results in us scoring. Instead we have the play where Joe is indecisive and throws out of bounds on fourth down. That play would have never happened. This is at 24:35 on Freak's replay.

Danielson, who watches multiple cameras the whole time (he does not watch the play directly) HAS to see this. What he does is to tell the viewer to blame Joe. It was a nice touch pass. But Danielson says it was thrown late and Joe should have rocketed it in there. Meaning, if anyone stopped to think about what he was suggesting, that the ball should have been a rope without touch. If that had been the case it would have been a fault, and Gary would have told the viewer that instead. Then Brad says "the Tennessee fans" want PI. As if that is merely a biased view. You can hear the boos.

When they finally show us the view that Gary has had the whole time, we immediately see that the DB has his hand around Nimrod's wrist and is pushing his arm away from the ball, leaving Nimrod one-handed and making a catch impossible. Clear PI no-call in the endzone.

I think no one even talked about this much because Danielson had played to prejudice and convinced the viewer it was Joe's fault. A nice way to dodge the PI at the spot.View attachment 587306View attachment 587307

There was an even more clear cut PI where Milton threw a perfect pass to Nimrod close to the endzone and the DB was grabbing and pulling Nimrod's right arm as he was breaking in from the sideline to make the catch. Also a bad no-call on a deep ball to Ramel. At least 6 points and probably 10-14 points taken off the board by those no-calls.

Also two very bad "holding" calls on Wright runs ended drives. One called against Webb and one on Castles. Game was closer than it should have been due to bad officiating.

I believe you didn't think we could do it at all. lol As much as we fuss about the o line we got to give them their due. They did what other top schools could not do. Great win!
That's not true...I said sevaral times that I thought they would stalemate us, and thus we would not run wild like we did against USC. I said Joe and Co would have to play a great game for us to win and open up the running game.

That was wrong...we ran wild anyway, and that and two huge special teams plays, and good defense, and the crowd won the game despite Joe and the recievers sucking even worse than usual.

Took a look at the football forum and I’d be really sad if that’s representative of our general fanbase. Criticism of Joe is certainly warranted, but can’t our fanbase just enjoy a quality win that our elite defense and running helped us pick up? Joe very well may not be the guy, but that doesn’t deserve 50% of the spotlight right now.

If we had this board back in the day, Tee Martin would've been trashed with us going undefeated by some.

This is awesome.

I love this man.....how can you not!? Such a likeable human being and fantastic coach. I hope he retires here, we build him a statue and name some stuff after him. The Heupel Hill?

His genuine personality shows why his players love him and he recruits well. We finally have the superstar coach we deserve but a person we can all love and respect. Danny White's great relationship with Josh makes me happy knowing that he coaches here a long time. The guy loves UT and it shows....keep giving that man his money!
