Also, I don’t want to be critical of Halzle yet, but I think we miss Golesh. I know it’s more than that, but I’m not seeing as much creativity in play selection as last year.

Patiently waiting for improvement here.
I've been going under the assumption this has more to do with the limitations of Joe and WR group, especially since Bru went down.

Rusty on Basilio with a heater of a stat:

For the Vols in 2021 and 2022, the percentage of pass interference calls on our incompletions was 22%.

For the Vols in 2023, the percentage of pass interference calls on our incompletions is 3%.
Telling. And, enough of a sample size to determine that trend isn't changing in 2023. What to do about it? Last year we had guys WIDE open a whole lot. We should be this season, given how strong our rushing attack is. What's missing, and what do we do about it?

I, at least, trust Heupel to figure it out. I bet he's been holding some things back for Bama.

I must say, the performance of the offensive line has exceeded my expectations of this year. They had a really bad game against Florida, but they just mauled a really good A&M defensive front. The pass protection was good also, but we just do not have a QB good enough to complete throws consistently.
To be fair...as Orange Crush rightly pointed out to me last week...this ain't the same OL that played against Florida.

Golesh called the majority of plays last year, Heupel is calling plays this year. Heupel would override the play call if needed. I believe that Heupel misses Golesh in coaches box reading the D and letting Heup know.
It doesn't have a damn thing to do with any of that crap...it is this simple..they have a bad QB and pass catchers with a team wide case of the dropsies...period.

They are calling great running plays every game because that is literally all they have to work with right now.

It’s just a difference of opinion. I was taught to treat the opponent with respect and still beat the hell out of them. Just me thouugh.
I hate em all...I don't respect them, and I want to destroy them. I do not want them feeling nice and comfy in our house...I want them terrified that they have invaded a house of unspeakable horrors that they never want to come back to ever again.

Yeah, I imagine some of the issue is Joe’s accuracy. Refs aren’t going to bail out bad passes with PI calls even if that goes against the spirit of the rule. It also seems like there are just less PI calls in college football but that’s my anecdotal evidence opinion.

OK, so.. Joe... WTH? You'll get a lot of people off your back without this kind of stuff.

Turn and truck someone. Your frame, you could out-Tebow Tebow. Turn up field and get the first. DON'T let them string you out until you throw it OOB on 4th down.

If he DIVES and doesn’t get there? Free pass from those who count. We simply want the effort and semblance of thought process from our field general.

I think you may be right. Seen too many times, one drop, one missed kick, one time getting beat deep gets in player's heads. Sometimes you take them in the office and show the clips of them doing it right over and over and over.
What’s happened to Mac Jones dating back to last year. Clinic mismanagement by Belichick.

The booing when entering the stadium every team has been happening for years. Nothing new and seems to be more fun than violent. The student F fill in the blank chants are very low class in my opinion and come from the student section. The booing when the opponent comes out of the tunnel is good nature just for fun at least in general. Not sure about the student section
Not a fan of the f chants...or being physically or extremely verbally abusive towards enemies...but booing and taking trash are part of the rivalry.

You’re not being honest with yourself if you think there is even a remote possibility that Joe is benched barring injury. And before you respond back, no, I don’t think Joe is playing at an acceptable level right now and wouldn’t mind a change, but we need to accept it’s just not going to happen so we’re wasting our breath and angering ourselves over something that will not change.
I wonder if Heupel may give him more playing time (Nico) after the Alabama game. It makes sense to me to start seeing what we have this year with our young stud QB.
