That's ridiculous after three years. We'll know more about whether he's a championship coach in years to come. Did you expect a Championship after almost three years with the mess left by previous coaches/admin?
It's not about expecting a championship.
It's in game management/skills. As a HC he coaches games like he's an OC. HC's who calls plays can't detach themselves from the side of the ball they know and see the game as a whole. He has a lot of growing to do but he keeps making the same mistakes.

That bama game was a back breaker. I’m completely bracing for a typical 3rd year Tennessee coach collapse. Promoted a position guy to coach our offense way too soon. Martinez guys still giving up terrible bombs at the most anti clutch moments in a game. Riding joe who played lights out first half but reverted back to the mean, which isn’t going to cut it.

Fans know that Heupel calls the plays, but I wonder how much Golesh helped in scheming? It also hurt having elite players last year.

His system can keep lesser teams competitive but it has way too many flaws to take a good team over the top.
Please back that up with statistics. Seems to me it requires a really cerebral quarterback to make the correct reads. Limiting if you don't have one but a lot of systems depend on that for putting them over the hump.

It wasn’t a fair catch signal. And Dee should have never made the signal for this very reason. He has not clue what har cam will do.

You only make that signal to kill play because the ball is over your head.
If it isn't a fair catch signal then how does it kill the play. I really don't understand.

The arms at your side is a new signal that return men can give to signal the ball will not be played and to let up on your blocks.

Been happening all year.

Tend to agree, but Heupel is going to need the horses at WR to help Nico. Fingers crossed Matthews lives up to the 5* ranking.

Tonite is evidence. We have to have more talent on offense, to be effective. Penalties are what they are. We have to be able to get around that. I just dont see us bringing in enough horses at WR, and at DT.

gotta close on the trail.

Yep. In the SEC, you are going to have to be elite.

It's not the players It's how he manages games, he manages them as an OC instead of a HC.

Sure do I like going for it on 4th, yes, but does that mean it's the right call, probably not. I also don't get paid millions to make those decisions.

oh stop. we have one of the best running games in the country, we get away from it.

Come on. Stop it. We were up 20-7 at half coming off the best half of football of Joe Milton’s career. If the team can’t “believe” in their QB up 20-7 in Tuscaloosa, then this team is a bunch of mental midgets. The lack of effort and edge has nothing to do with Milton.
Let’s not get carried away. Joe got raddled and it was down hill from that point. His strongest suit today was his running which he did do well.

every coach makes bad calls/decisions.
