Seldon caught it, but they said Dee called a fair catch, if you go back and watch (if you didn’t see it) you’ll see that Dee didn’t even raise his hands above his waist. That led to us being on the 3yd line.

If you go and read that actual rules, it says a player has to have a hand ABOVE his head.

Would that have changed anything? Probably not, but as a player knowing you’re on the 3yd line, it hurts
There is something called "an invalid fair catch" they stated Dee made a gesture of a calling a fair catch...so ball was dead as soon as Seldon caught it...new rule I assume....Iowa got stripped of a victory due to same call yesterday...and they were the Home team...

Hyams is grilling the officiating from yesterday. That’s saying something.

He said on one of the 4th downs, the refs moved the ball back at least a foot. How does someone on the UT sideline not see that and go ballistic?
I would be willing to guarantee that occurred on the review that initially said Joe got the first down. They said it was supposed to be marked at the 34 1/2 yard line, but it was almost marked at the 34. Those inches ended up costing us first down when we went for it.

SEC is worth $750 million dollars, just last year.

inexcusable that a corporation worth that much b puts out a product that crappy, and pushes certain teams to win.

only way they will change is if people don't support the product. that's a choice.
It's only going to get worse too. Everybody wants to break away from the NCAA but imagine what that would do to someone like Sankey. An even more unchecked Sankey can make any game have whatever outcome he wants.

No one, and I mean no one, who wants to retain an ounce of credibility believes that a team with a terrible pass protecting offensive line, against our front, that has averaged about 75 yards a game in penalties the last two games, legitimately committed only one penalty for 5 yards yesterday.
The teams that Bama is playing in those weeks when the flags are thrown are teams they can beat with the penalties. The refs clearly saw we were the better team out of the gates, so what was a clean game being called ended up getting tipped to Bama, because the SEC office saw something needed to happen to change momentum.

This has always been the answer and the fans simply will not do it. Quit believing everything is on the up and up, that the "breaks" even up over time.

Clue- they never have and they never will without meaningful change in behavior.

Our and other non-designated programs are like the Washington Generals and we fans keep thinking we are going to win.

If you want to let them know you know and plan to do something about it with your wallet, send your messages to Randy Boyd. He knows the way it all works and is the only one in position to make meaningful changes.

Waking up this morning, and the loss is disappointing but understandable, but the most disappointing and inexcusable thing is still that we had players admitting that at halftime they thought they won the game. Just awful and that is directly on coaching to not have your players in the right headspace.
I don't know how many times they have to learn the same lesson. It's like a bunch of 5 year olds.

Am I misremembering or did the players mention they had a similarly arrogant mindset heading into the Florida game?

Those poor officials. Tennessee jumping on top so early never allowed their fake objectivity to play out. Normally, they are involved in games where Bama is narrowly winning or winning by a lot. They were forced to show their hand early and had to keep pressing until the game was decided. The game wasn't decided until the failed 4th down late in the 4th. Poor guys. Their bias was on display throughout.

McCastles being held for 3 yards when breaking to the endzone. Would have been first and goal inside the 5. Instead, they ruled it couldn't be PI because the ball was deflected? It was holding!
Baron was in a chokehold on two soon to be sacks. One in the 1st half and one on the TD.
Where was the video evidence to overturn the 3rd down where Joe ran and picked up the first down? How could they determine where the nose of the ball was from any angle that was shown?
Small not out of bounds? Forward progress stopped?
The woman puncher kicking our DB? That 15 yards and personal foul might've free'd Dee up on the kickoff.
Ruling Joe short on another run when he was a yard past the sticks?
Every Bama 9 yard run turned into 10 without review? Why were all of our close plays reviewed upstairs?
PI in the end zone that should've given us a chance with all three timeouts remaining in a 1 score game.
A linebacker 10 yards off the line of scrimmage clapping to get the attention of his DB to the left is delay of game? It had zero impact on the play. There was plenty of time for Bama to audible and make the snap. Not a single Olineman reacted to it.
The Bama fans didn't even think GJL held the woman puncher on that 3rd down.

1 penalty for 5 yards. I wasn't upset. I expected it, and I shouldn't.

You’re blind or didn’t watch.
I just watched the replay. 1 tipped, 2 high and 1 two yards in front of the WR .
But go ahead and keep making excuses for something that happens every game.
Was the fade to Webb his only option? No
Was his pass to the middle his only option? No.
Playcalling? Run up the middle don’t work because the O line gets pushed back, run around the end don’t work because we don’t block outside defenders , passes rarely work because most are not on target or we don’t make a play and catch it.
I guess they could call something different and we could add that to the list that aren’t executed.
At this point we know what we get with Joe. My biggest thing with him, was escaping when play breaks down, and being impactful when running. Also, need him to see the field better. When Castles was open running right, and he chose to throw to a covered player to left, who wouldve had to make an ESPN catch. I knew our goose was cooked.

As a 6'5", 240 lbs human. He should easily be able to line up behind center, and fall forward for the first down. That play wasnt the game, but, was so
important for him mentally, and momentum.

That really comes down to play calling to me. It was a doomed play from the get go. Further, as we all knew. If we went away from the run, we would lose. TN has a couple of difficult times running, and we go back to passing - quick three and outs.

What happened first half to second? Same at Florida? Bama adjusted. We didnt. The offensive game plan in first have included spreading the ball. Joe was making good decisions. Runs were being ripped.

Second half either the play calling got worse, or it stayed the same. I think its been that way all year. I think Huep needs to reevaluate Halzle as OC.

I dunno man. I'm just not sure.

I just know the entity that has time to worry about home and away jerseys, and concocted a 550 page dissertation on recruiting rules. Could easily, er, couls make a rule establishing accountability for officials.

They could but they leave it to the conferences. I'm talking about if the Power 5 breaks away like it's being talked about. Sankey becoming the Roger Goodell of the SEC would be a nightmare.

Honestly our best hope moving forward is getting a season where neither Bama or UGA are on our schedule. They are the chosen two and you will never get a fair whistle against either.

What was just as head scratching as the officials..was the comments by a couple of players...Joe Milton saying some didn't do their job and he would take the blame being the QB...was that comment even necessary?... Herring stating they acted like the had won game at halftime...football has 2 halves.....

Lol other Power 5 commissioners aren't going let Sankey be head honcho...if the power 5 conferences break way they will hire a unbiased person to run the ship...

You aren't just going to show up to a trash fire like we had and start beating the big boys. Frankly, already beating Bama and Florida once is big. To me, those numbers say we are exactly on the right track. We sucked for 15 years...its time for patience. Heupel is the man for the job.
Rational thought wants to agree. Last year was insane. But South Carolina was a red flag. You could write it off but not having us ready to play with playoffs on the line is a red flag. Florida this year, red flag. We are better than them, there is no excuse there. This second half collapse ? Red flag. Bama has the depth, and it’s saban. I understand how tough that is. But we literally were sleep walking. This team has got to dial in. The lack of focus is alarming with big games on the line. We have to close out this stellar recruiting class and find key fixes in the portal. This could go south in a hurry if we struggle down the stretch.
