Honest question: having watched the game and knowing that Bama’s one penalty for 5 yards was not an accurate reflection how that contest played out, what do you think was responsible for the disparity?

Not a trick question or a trap. Just curious.
I think they just called a terrible game. Plain and simple. Do you really think last years Bama team really committed 17 penalties for 130 yards and we only committed 6 for 39? Bad games happen. Did the refs miss? Oh yes. But are you part of the tinfoil hat wearers?

Think about it. So if you agree with the tinfoil hat wearers that there is this Bama/ref cabal against TN, then why did we have such a dominant first half? Why was Milton lighting Bamas defense up? So was this the plan? Did the refs meet with Saban and lay this out? Listen Nick, against TN we are gonna let TN pretty much dominate you in the first half. We are gonna let them build up a 20-7 lead and then in the second half we will start calling for you?

Is this what you think? Serious question.

A few people were saying the same thing in the game thread that it was tipped. There’s a difference between holding and PI

It’s frustrating because we could have won with bad officiating. But you can’t overcome bad officiating and poor execution and playcalling
Agreed. But you can overcome bad play calling with great coaching and execution.

Do players now have to have their arms to their sides? They should issue a public apology. Granted this play likely didnt impact the outcome.
How do we know it did not affect the outcome? Because of the call, we were super conservative and had to punt deep in our own territory. If we had started with the ball on the 24 yard line, who knows what would’ve happened. If we had scored a touchdown, we would’ve taken the momentum right back.

I don’t know what happened. I just don’t find some great gulf of difference between corruption or extreme incompetence like some people do. They’re both awful for the game.

How do we know it did?

Team that makes fewest mistakes will win.

Its why winning in 'Loser, Lexington (Bball), and Baton Rouge (Baseball) is so difficult.

You gotta beat the team and the refs.

If there truly is a fix, then burn it down.

I don’t think they will either. And part of me hopes they’ll be mad enough about it to join some of the other petty Barons in this conference to force King Greg to sign the Magna Carta and finally get some changes to the way business has been handled by the Birmingham Mafia all these years.
It will be interesting. First thing I want to see is how mad Texas gets when everyone is doing Horns down and the conference doesn't make it stop.

In Basketball there has been many times a team that has more turnovers in the game or committing more fouls have won the game.....

I really hate the conference realignment stuff, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be entertaining in its own right.
I hate it too but I understand why it's happening.
I just wish the conferences would change their damn names. The SEC isn't the SEC anymore and the B10 isn't the B10.
I would be more ok with it if it made sense geographically but Rutgers and Oregon being in the same conference is just dumb.

Meh refs screwed us but we didn’t score a single point in the 2nd half…..
Momentum is a bitch, say the no-call holding on Baron on Bama’s first td wasnt called, it would have been 1st & 20, maybe they wouldn’t have scored, meaning the “invalid fair catch” fiasco never happened and UT kept the momentum in the 2nd half, who knows what happens after that

We gotta me more resilient than that. Majority of my own personal frustration was how it felt like we got so deflated, so quickly. Bama was down 20-7, and it never felt like we actually had a lead.

I agree, but starting at your own 4 yard line in front of the student section after they just benefited from two crappy calls and a td is tough to do, not much the offense can do especially with a non existent run game

We gotta get better in the trenches. Fact we are 5-2 is testament to a down year across the board in SEC. This was a fairly pedestrian Bammer team, Same for Florida.

Its a big ask to take this OL versus that DL, and that coach, and run it for a win in Tuscaloosa, with the deck stacked. WR talent is down, markedly. We just dont have any weapons, other than Squirrel.

Defense either plays lights out. Or, is poop. Guess which one played 2nd half versus Bammer?

I'll play.

Since two teams to the west were added, Bama would have to move to the East and play Georgia (and Tennessee) every year. 😆 The Birmingham Alabama Conference (BAC) (the successor to the former Southeastern Conference) can't have that!

Bama missed the playoffs one year, so Sankey immediately pushed for playoff expansion to prevent that breath of fresh air for America from ever occurring again, to the best of the BAC's ability. 😂

The kids work to hard to have the games be rigged. SEC has no integrity, and I'm starting to realize it's a joke of a conference.

Incompetence is when the officials make bad calls. Corruption is when they are told or encouraged to do it.
