I disagree. There were atleast 3-4x a game we had WRs running wide open down the field the first 2 years. Only game we didnt was UGA. We probably have had 5 total so far this year with Keyton dropping two of them. The the sheer low volume of wide open WRs is more related to scheme than Joe missing WRs (which he has missed fewer this year).

Maybe defenses have figure out that part of our offense. I could buy that.
🤦‍♂️

This isn't about pandering to the university...it's about them picking that pure garbage QB.
I get being mad about that as long as it’s not made into a slight towards Tennessee or Hooker. It wasn’t. It was just a terrible pick. Happens all the time. I hate the NFL, it is gay by their own admission and I couldn’t agree more. But they don’t owe the universities anything. We sure as hell don’t owe them anything. The 2015 Super Bowl was the last NFL game I watched. 🤷‍♂️

But we also don't throw the deep ball this year at the frequency we did in previous years. That could be a Joe issue or a WR issue.
The open receivers are there...Joe just doesn't see the field as well as Hooker did. I'm proud of the way Joe is improving and making plays, but he is still isn't seeing the entire field like he needs to. We can definitely win with the type of play he has brought these last two games and hopefully he keeps settling in and sees the field better. Don't get me wrong, the receivers as a group haven't played up to what we saw from Hyatt and Bru, but Heupel's scheme is still getting guys open.

I need to see evidence then bc I'm not seeing guys running wide open like the last two years. For clarification, I'm referring to down the field/20 yards plus throws. I'm not finding him not seeing guys running open like Hyatt against UK last year getting schemed up on that wheel route with no defender in sight or Hyatt lining up behind the tackle and sneaking out of the backfield on another wheel route and getting escorted by a teammate down the sideline. All you remember last year were commentators amazed that Hyatt or anyone else is all be himself on these long TDs.

Now Joe has missed some throws to guys (Warren against Bama in the endzone) is a recent one but I'm talking about those chunk plays.

Defenses (for the most part) are playing us different

While we don’t throw the deep ball as much as last season the disparity isn’t as much as you’d think. Hooker averaged 5.5 20+ throws a game, Joe (prior to tonight) averages 4.7 a game

I think the big difference is Hooker completed way more. Joe has 8 this year, Hendon had 26 completed last year. What’s odd is Joe was 14/28 last year on passes 20+ yards

Hooker threw 47 passes behind the LOS last year, Joe is already at 67 (before UK game) with 100 less attempts

It makes no sense with how defenses are playing us

Wright now has over 700 yards, no games with 20 attempts only 3 with 15+, He got dinged up vs UTSA and barely played. Dudes having a great season, can’t imagine his stats if he was getting 25 carry’s a game
Gotta love it if you're a RB recruit. You dont get over used, you're in any offense you can still put up crazy numbers and you play in the best league on a team with top5 facilities and #1 NIL.

Running Thornton, Squirrel, Dee, or Sampson across to fake the sweep or take the sweep would be a welcome change. Joe or Wright could still take it. Even on the option, having any of our 4 speedsters to be the pitch man would be scary
I'd like to see the power-i in short yardage. . . Small, Wright, Sampson and Milton all in the backfield at the same time, 😂

The sad frog avatar is killing me. It’s like Hank’s upside-down T avatar.

This should be a banner year for you. We’re pretty good and South Carolina and Clemson might both miss a bowl.

If someone can find the picture of smoking jayson swain or make me a suitable replacement I’ll change it again

Somebody watched the Bama game

I don’t know, Carlos…I don’t know. We are paying heavily for whipping that butt for Saban. We had one sack all night. All of a sudden our DL has gone from one of the most disruptive through 6 games to not being able to generate any pressure. Hmm…

We will just have to get used to it, because I expect this will continue for 4 more weeks.

Thank goodness it won't come to that now...worst we will do is 8-4.

The guys played really well tonight...especially considering the refs once again were letting the other team maul our boys with no calls...they had to beat UK and the zebras and pulled it off this time.
And the clock operator and the announcers. They slurped Kentucky all night. I actually hit the mute button for most of the 2nd half. I was tired of hearing it.
