I think @InVOLuntary is looking at me for that position, but I could go half-sies with Nick. I'm generous.
Simple to me...our running game depends on spreading the defense way out, not great power run blocking, so the closer to the end zone..the less ground the defense has to defend...the harder it is to run...so at that point it gets put on Milton passing for us to break the end zone....and he just hasn't been good enough putting the football in tight spaces for that to happen with the same regularity as last year.Big difference from last year to now. The interesting thing is I just heard the other week that the best RZ offenses tend to be the best rushing teams. Are we just not sticking with what works or do defenses know we want to lean on the run game moreso this year? I've also heard people say we don't trust Joe as much in the RZ and can't disagree...HH became a master of the short RZ slants for TDs and we seem to be lacking there this season. Either way, we know we're getting into positions to score...we just need to capitalize better and that could be the difference down the stretch. Fix that, find a replacement for Hadden, and it's not out of the realm of possibility we make a nice run and win 10+ again.
Red Zone Attempts (not a huge difference)
2022 - #2 SEC 5.2/game
2023 - #4 SEC 4.6/game
Red Zone TD% (Huge difference)
2022 - 79% #1 SEC #1 Nationally
2023 - 51% #13 SEC #113 Nationally
Seems obvious to me too...especially since teams can choose to focus on the run on the red zone because our passing attack has not been very good to this point...so it becomes even harder.our rushing success is based on spreading people out…. the closer we get to the end zone…. the less spread out the defense becomes and the less successful we are at running it.
And a huge shiny new houseboat on Norris to live in for free..I think @InVOLuntary should hire you to be President of his company and pay you a HUGE salary.
@ChattaTNVol that guy would be a good one. Where is he?How about @Ulysees E. McGill doing the game threads? He would probably have it ready by Sunday afternoon. He would predict a loss because the other team is a bunch of cheating, artists, that sleep with commie women. Of course, that would be the same analysis each week, but it would consistently be ready to go!
Phil lost to Memphis freakin State...with Peyton f'n Manning and a freaking loaded roster...most disgusting loss in program history when you take that huge of a mismatch into account...and then those embarrasing Bowl losses to those putrid ACC teams in the early aughts where it seemed the team never gave half a runnyJMO, Dabo is lucky Ed Orgeron. Dude was a joke until he had multiple years of Watson and Lawrence.
It would be tldr@ChattaTNVol that guy would be a good one. Where is he?
