PPG doesn't tell the whole story.Bama yes. Still averaging 34 ppg.
FL no. They have nearly identical stats to last year.
LSU yes bc of Daniels (and Vols best D performance of Heup era) but they averaged 34.5 ppg. A&M averages 34.2 ppg this year.
Pitt yes.
KY no. Their offense is better this year. +9 ppg better.
You also left off Mizzou. Much better offense this year. +8 ppg.

Or you can win by giving up. Pave the way, Moses. This is bs hindsight bias.
Favored in 10. Win 10.
Not fall flat on the road to inferior rosters in Florida and Mizzou.
The injuries kind of excuse a lot of things because I think they were consistent, but it was fair to expect the team we saw in the orange bowl to come back and compete for championships.
8-4 was the BARE MINIMUM going into this year. Period.
We shouldn't have expected more out of a Joe Milton that lit up Clemson with Bru, Squirrel and Ramel? All RB's back, Castles and Warren at TE and a freak in Dont'e?
We should have EXPECTED to lose to two teams we were favored over??? Anyone that predicted 8-4 was predicting us to have some significant hiccups.
Our trajectory is fine now, but it's definitely not great. Some of the shine is off, but you guys just have a certain narrative that'll you'll cling to regardless of what anyone says so whatever.
8-4 is totally cool folks! Losing games you're favored in by double digits is a successful season!
Most of those stats were against UCONN, VA, Peay. We were getting to the QB with 4. Since then we aren't. That's the difference. To be fair, there are numbers that account for SOS as well which you’ve raised as a concern.
ESPN efficiency has us up from #44 to #22 this year. Similar metrics across the board from SP+ and others.
The defense has really struggled since Hadden went out and those numbers will come back to earth a little bit, but the defense was really really good earlier in the year.
Unless you have top-3 talent, that's just going to happen.Man, yesterday just reminded me of the worst of Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt. Uninspired. Pitiful. Shooting themselves in the foot. Getting blown out by some mediocre program.
My BVS flared something fierce.
Anybody that truly believes UT/Heupel is tending down must have lost a lot of brain cells with all the acid they did in college.Trending down is an absurd statement. He’s overperformed so much in 2 years that somehow 8-4 is an inexcusable result.
There’s a lot to fix and improvement to be made but right now a lot of people are trying to throw out the baby with the bath water

I read 8-4 7-5 all off-season. Vociferously disagreed but it wasn't exactly a Banksy observation...more the consensus. I know I know, you want more for the program than us losers because you love the program that much more...can we get a break from your commitment to excellence every other hour? That we shouldn't lose games we are favored in by double digits and expecting us to drop two games like?
Who sat here and expected us to go 8-4 with two beatdowns in games we were favored in?
