One more question… I agree 100% with your statement there. Is Tennessee all in like that or are they more bargain bin 8-4 expectations going forward into 2024. It’ll be a model to judge from that a few fans here think 8-4 is great.
8-4 this year is great considering where the program has been. Besides last year, it has only happened once in the last 16 years. Do not forget from whence we came. It is not an acceptable ceiling for future years. Let it play out and see what the next couple of years do with the record, recruiting and where the program is headed. We are far and above where we where three years ago AND no longer under NCAA investigation. You can be disappointed with yesterday and still see the progress of the program. Or, you can fire everyone and be a bottom tier program where 6-6 gets you into a bowl and hit it by beating Vandy. Or lose to Vandy and stay home at 5-7.

For once I'm in full agreement with Jacket, let's go 🤝

If we fire Heupel anytime soon, we are much, much more likely to cycle through two or three bad coaches over a ten year stretch again than we are to hit a home run from the outset.

Years of watching college football and the coaching carousel have taught me that.

Auburn is on Coach 2 post-Malzahn - he’s off to a nice start, but Malzahn had them playing for a title his first year. South Carolina has floundered trying to replace Spurrier. Alabama pre-Saban was a disaster. Florida is in a hopeless spiral, despite so many more natural advantages.

The best stretch of Tennessee football in modern history happened to coincide with remarkable stability at the head coach level - two over a thirty year period. Let’s give that a try, shall we?

Why are fans so thick headed?
Folks still forget how much we over overachieved in Y1 and this has led to such weird bars being set.
