Lmaoooooooo UK is a game TN wins unless the coach is going to get fired. (Looking at DD and Pruitt.) If you can pencil them in as a win before the season it's not a team with a pulse.

When the AM game came around, I said it was a big win, they're talented. So maybe 1 bug win with 2 bad losses. That's still an F.
now that you used the extra long version of lmao I think I see your point

This team has suffered some really untimely injuries at key positions this year. It's not an excuse, but is a reality.
True, depth is something that takes time but you have to have a next man up mentality. With that being said the next guy has got to be close talent wish to the starter.

People blow my mind. We're not back yet. Moving in the right direction, but not there yet. It's like some have forgotten Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt. Forgotten we're operating with scholarship reductions. Forgotten what an awful mess we were just 3 years ago. Hell, I wish I could forget all that, too. But to say 8-4 is a failure and 9-3 would be average....... We're not at that point, yet.

It's funny to me.
Most on here think TN has the resources to win a championship, talk about TN being a top 10 program. Then want to be scared of teams that don't even have a shot at the division. If you want TN to be a championship program 8-4 or 9-3, is nothing to celebrate.

I've been blowing this horn since he was hired, but there comes a point in every coach's career that he becomes overpaid for his output. When Jimbo was given his stupid contract at A&M, he became overpaid. He has a ridiculous safety net to fall into when he sucks and gets fired, so his incentive to give 100% is not there.

Just looking at our 2024 schedule
OU
Bama
UGA
All good wins

The rest of the schedule should be penciled in as wins before the season starts.
So if we go 9-3 next year, it's an average season, 8-4 is a failure because you lost to a bad team.
I agree
That’s why I think we should have a shot at the playoffs
9-3 minimum next year imo and maybe get one of those three
Making the playoffs next year in the 12 team is big for recruiting for the first few years of its existence

Follow the Jackie Sherrill path?

Jimbo could be a great hire for a G5 or bad P5 team. Dude would agree to work for basically free at this point, considering TAMU tried to put him on the Forbes richest people list.

But what he really needs to do is take a step back for a few years and learn how to bring his offense from 2005 to the present day.

Well you can celebrate it and still want TN to be a championship program.

Life is dreadful if it’s championship or bust as a fan. We have no control over whether or not UT ever wins another championship.

And this is where I disagree too. A 10-2 team shouldn't be playing for a championship. Making the playoffs as anything less than the top 4 isn't impressive.

UK has a hangup with us just like the one we have with UF. It doesn't mean they are always a bad team; occasionally when we've beaten them, they've actually been a pretty good team.

Would it be reasonable for UF fans to write off their victory over us this year because of the hangup we have with them?

I don't think we win Saturday. Not going to let that stop me from cheering on the Vols and hoping they pull off an upset.

I don't have a lot of faith in our offense or our defense. If you can stop the run our offense is AWFUL this year.

And on defense they can't get off the field and are on the field for TOO long!

I had your thought at first but then when I compared it to nfl with teams having multiple losses I changed my thought somewhat
I know we play less games but I guess I adapted lol

Yes, UF should look at the schedule and count TN as a win.

Halzle will improve for sure. Golesh had a loaded deck last year but over the 2 years he was OC and 1 year at UCF, it was clear that he was just a really good coach.

We talk about Matt Cambpell at Iowa State and how he should have left and we all had him on our white whale bingo card during the last coaching search. Do you know who was the Tight Ends coach for the first 3 years with Cambpell when they went 8-5 twice and were ranked Top 25 for the first time in 15 years? Golesh. Year before he got there TE caught 5 passes total all year. 5. Golesh’s last year at Iowa State? TEs had 864 yards combined between a First team All-Big12 TE who was also 2nd team All-American TE, and his back up who was 2nd team All-Big12.

Everywhere Golesh has went, his unit has performed. I don’t expect USF to be any different. I bet he’s coaching at a P5 program within 2-3 years.

What? You must be crazy!

Every time I mention us really missing Golesh I'm told, repeatedly, that it's a non-factor....That it's CJH's offense. I get that and agree but there is zero chance he didn't have input and add insight in game. I'm not dogging CJH in the least..... Just saying that Golesh WAS a factor. Hoping as time goes by Halzle does the same thing!

I said it last week, but I hate expanded playoffs in every sport pro and college.
If you can't win your conference/division you shouldn't be playing for the biggest title in your sport.

If your goal is to win a championship, then we shouldn't.
Do you celebrate doing things you are expected to do in your every day life?
