I would be shocked if he plays in the bowl game.

And Heupel should have the sense to strongly encourage him not to. He doesn't have anything to gain at this point. He is what he is on film.

Starting a game against a decent team would be huge for Nico going into next year.
Here it comes. People bitched about Hyatt not playing in the Orange Bowl and now they are going to bitch if Joe does not opt out of the bowl game, LOL. I know you're not bitching. I am just waiting for more hot takes from my fellow morans.

Does eye discipline increase speed?

Try hitting a baseball by looking at the 3rd baseman versus watching the pitcher.

Of course it helps. If you're a LB and you're watching the wrong action you'll be slower to react. The difference between filling a gap to meet a RB and being a step late as he goes by all comes down to play recognition and having good eye discipline.

@butchna, I started freaking some when Dak took that big hit on the pass to Cooks....where did this new WR come from???...believe Brooks is his last name...

I will say this, Joe has zero to gain from the bowl game. He's 100% gone after this year and his draft stock comes down to the eye test that'll happen at the combine and/or pro day.

Hyatt could have showed out against Clemson with more eyes on him and raised his stock still I think.

I never fault a player for missing a bowl game though if they have a legit shot at being in the NFL.

This is the kid expected to flip from Florida. The other is Ameras Williams. If they lose those two, they are the 4th and 5th highest remaining commits in Florida's class.

Filsaime is a DB from texas that they don't expect to end up in the class either.

Another take, but I think we need a portal RB this off season as well.
If Wright and Small are both gone and Heup wants to keep a 3 back rotation I think we need to look for another guy that's already played in college.

No idea...I'm just a fan reading tea leaves lol

I really think Heupel will look at BJM as his first choice though. He's filled almost every position with an internal elevation.
If the job comes open, he needs someone more experienced. I like BJM, but if Banks leaves you can’t take a risk with that hire. It would be the biggest hire he’s had to make yet, IMO.

I wouldn't bitch about it if it happens. I used to think the bowl opt outs were a bad thing. In the transfer portal era, I think it's nearly a requirement to play the guys who are going to be around next year. Both to appease them into staying, and also to see where your holes are that you need to fill in the portal.

In Joe's case specifically, I think it's a lose-lose proposition. His pathway to getting drafted relatively high is not having a decent game in a mid-tier bowl. It's putting up freakish numbers in his pro day and at the combine. Meanwhile, a marginally better chance at winning a bowl game is not as important as getting Nico his first start, and an entire offseason to analyze it.

But no... I wouldn't bitch about a guy wanting to suit up and play one last time. I don't think it would be the right move, but I wouldn't fault anyone for it.

Oh I agree, but being his first choice doesn't mean it'll be his hire. He'll give BJM the respect at least to go through the process.

Heupel has shown already he isn't just going to hire a name to hire a name, so it's gonna be someone that fits in with existing culture and staff. And BJM will have a leg up in that regard.

I feel great about Sampson and Seldon, but if the right guy is in the portal you take him.

100% need a stud WR and TE or two.

I heard that his wife was one of those Texas A&M cheer yell leaders too!

Gruden's wife is a dude?

Oh, I agree. It is just so VN to bitch, we will always find something.

I definetly think Seldon and Keith have bright futures I'm just not sure either will be ready next year.

I also agree don't take just any running back, but if there's a decent Jr or Sr available with some decent production I think it's worth taking.

Anyone think we can try to pull/flip the kid we wanted who committed to ARK? I do think though that there will be several RB's in the portal that would be good picks.

RB is one of the easiest positions to play right away.

We will have:

Sampson
Seldon
Bishop
Lewis (freshmen)
Keith (don’t think he ever really contributes)

That’s plenty to get the job done. We ran primarily two running backs before this year.
