His buyout is guaranteed, not offset. TAMU has to pay him the full amount no matter if he gets another job or not.

I don't have a particular article to pinpoint, but I've definitely heard it was a guaranteed contract and TAMU is on the hook for the full amount. They owe him a lump sum of some percentage of his contract, then he'll get paid in installments for x number of years. The numbers are not offset by him taking another job.

My view is Tennessee will never be in that top 2-3, especially not in the expanded SEC. Not enough instate talent and they lack the money of Texas, Texas A&M, etc.

But when the program is stable, they should be able to get somewhere between Auburn and LSU on this list, both of whom played for national titles in this stretch.

Of course, if the noisiest elements of the fanbase can’t handle 8-4 seasons, then we will perpetually languish in the middle to bottom third of this list.

Well… from this list you clearly need super elite talent to win at an elite level. And the money makes more of difference now than ever before. We are about to learn how much.

I don’t see anyone winning 10+ games every year without the super elite talent Bama and Georgia have. I just don’t see Tennessee ever getting to that point in the new SEC.

With that all said, I do believe with a quality coach and top third talent (both achievable) the Vols can capture lightening in a bottle every four or five years and compete for a national title. We will see! I’m here for the ride!

I watched Zack Arnett's introduction as head coach at MSU. He was born and raised in Albuquerque, but somehow overnight he has this thick southern accent, aight? I said "WTF? This will not end well." Totally underwhelmed as his replacement for the Pirate.

I really don't want him anywhere near our football team, in any capacity.

Another take, but I think we need a portal RB this off season as well.
If Wright and Small are both gone and Heup wants to keep a 3 back rotation I think we need to look for another guy that's already played in college.

My vote is for Tahj Brooks, rumors he may use his extra year and look to transfer.

No experienced coach is gonna come here with a young, inexperienced defense. Experienced coaches want to go places where they can step into a position with players that are gonna make them look good. Experienced coaches can be more selective. This job would be attractive to someone else that isn't afraid of a challenge.
