Bottom line, I’m comfortable if this turns out to simply be a transition year where we make a decent bowl, win some fun games (amidst a few frustrating losses), land a top 10 recruiting class and move on to the Nico era.

I have already seen people calling for Nico while others are claiming Joe just doesn’t have it. We are 2 games in to a new season with a new offensive coordinator and haven’t needed anyone to be a hero in lopsided matchups. How about we draw conclusions after a larger sample size is all I’m asking.

What have we really seen from Joe? He played in 2 games before getting hurt and was a little inconsistent. He finished last year strong and looked like he had really made positive strides. I think it’s too early to think that he won’t shake the rust and live up to his potential. Especially when play calling has been meh and the receivers haven’t done him any favors.

Nobody needs to lobby for Nico to play. If Heup loses faith that Joe can run the offense, he’ll make a change, 100%. Until, then, he won’t, no matter how much the fan base pleads.

These former-QB head coaches take their quarterback play as a direct reflection on their job performance. No one has to worry about a Pruitt-JG situation; when a change needs to be made, it will be made swiftly and decisively.

Crazy how many drive-killers there were in this game. Dropped passes, holding calls on the screens, false starts at the worst times, a couple missed PI calls. Such a weird game. I'm totally in the "this game was a major fluke" camp.

Agreed. Every time we threw a screen I was holding my breath waiting on a flag. The refs were itching to throw them.

Spraggins had his worst game under Heupel imo. You don’t expect a repeat from a grizzled veteran.

Very true. We did ok vs Balls Tate, but we did not look our best vs Pitt. We beat the tar our of Akron, but that game was dirty and came with some injuries that could have been really bad for the rest of our year. We came out of that stretch with a win over the gatas. Sounds like we have the opportunity to do that again this year. I think our boys are up for it.

A lot of tickets still available at the swamp. Prices have been dropping the past 2 weeks

Would be great to have a less than packed house and for us to get a couple early scores and take the crowd out of it early. It is still the swamp though and it is UF vs UT, so I imagine it will be full and loud. Hopefully, UT fans can eat up some of those available tickets and reduce the home field advantage a little like we did in Baton Rouge.

Never thought we'd say this, but I bet the officiating will actually be better at the swamp than on Saturday... We start throwing some 10-15 yd passes using our slot guys, get the timing down, get our RB's pounding the rock, contain their running game and keep their QB stressed, we win by 10.

Danny White is going to have to start venting the referees.

(I do mean venting, as in cutting these fools.)





Rant incoming:

It's unbelievable how many alabama alumni/residents are part time officials in this league and are allowed to call TN games. They hate us and we hate them. An Alabamain born referee will not call a straight up game if the Volunteers are involved, it's impossible. Professional referees need to be hired and held accountable for the calls they make, especially the ones that are blatantly biased towards one team. The referees have too much power and can/will/have determined the outcome of several games. They dictate the pace of the game, spotting the ball, pass interference/holding, when to blow the whistle, injury timeouts, etc. The review team in Birmingham is the biggest joke ever. There's way too much money in college athletics not to have full time, honest officials.... especially in football and basketball. At least get the SEC Headquarters out of ALABAMA.... move it to Alaska if necessary. I saw earlier this week, that the SEC originated in Knoxville TN, who was the brainiac that said "let's move it to Birmingham. What could go wrong? "
