Not too recent past: Hottest names were Grantham, Pruitt, Diaz.
Recent Past: House, Grinch, Arnette, etc.

Would you seriously consider any of these right now? Before you say Arnette you would need a roster overhaul to fit his scheme.
I liked the names I threw out better. Aranda, if he gets fired from Baylor, or Leonhard, the former Wisconsin DC. I've already used my veto power to nix Grinch.

This basketball team being called a title favorite is a little much right now. Still not convinced. Michigan state got beat by James Madison at home. JMU is good but that still shouldn’t happen to a good MSU team. Offensive woes for long stretches still happen. They will probably win 25-30 games, but I don’t know about being a title favorite yet

“Title favorites” this early in the season almost never win a NC. Lots of good teams out there

Sure. But the point is today's flavor of the month "name" is tomorrow's guy that everyone wants fired. None of those guys all of a sudden got dumber or forgot how to coach.

Also, the reason I said 6 or 7 years is because I don't see many difference makers on the D now. Some will develop but these freshman this year and freshman coming in next year will need 2-3 more years to contribute. There's the portal be we've had the portal for the last few years anyway. Thus 6-7 years. At some point, we need to quit blaming the players and start blaming the men that are leading them.
There has to be a ‘Al Wilson’ in that group. I don’t see it at this moment. Doesn’t mean one won’t emerge, but I don’t see it now. Someone has to be the vocal leader. We need an Al.

Good luck this weekend and going forward. Not necessarily "best of luck"; I'll reserve that for Georgia since they may well need it to get out of Neyland with a win. They've only played two road games and weren't sharp in either one from what I can tell. I haven't watched much live football this season and won't this Saturday either. My blood pressure goes up and down these days like I'm pumping through lead pipes. Trying to limit the stress by fretting over lesser things (that I also don't control), like WWIII and our debt/inflation riddled economy. :)

I'm sure the Vols will play with a lot of pride coming off a loss, and they generally do that at home anyway.

I can’t understand how you could stress over UGA football. 2 straight National Championships and haven’t lost in forever and almost assured to be in the playoffs again.

I feel like FSU is overrated. I get they're undefeated, but other than LSU, who have they played? I don't feel like any of the ACC teams are really that good. My guess is the winner of Georgia/Bama makes the playoffs. The winner of Ohio State/Michigan makes the playoffs. Washington and Oregon could very well see each other again in the PAC12 championship with the winner going to the playoffs. Does FSU sneak in on a weak ACC schedule? I think Texas would make for a better playoff game, but if FSU is undefeated, not sure how you keep them out. I just think they're overrated.

Of course, if we could pull off the upset this weekend, we could really throw a wrench in the playoffs.....

People want to crap on Banks and our defense but they're not the reason we've lost 3 games so far.....it's this below average offense. Let's take a look at the offensive output in some of our SEC games shall we....

@UF......16 points
TAMU.....13 points
@bama....20 points in the 1st half and decided that was good enough.
@Mizzou....7 points

This is disgusting to look at...thank God we had UVA , UTSA, and UCONN to make our PPG look commendable.
I remember @secking mentioned this upon hiring CJH.

Chip Kelly’s fall is one of the thing that worried me about a coach like Heupel. Kelly was an offensive wizard. He had Oregon the most exciting team in football. They are where they are now because of him. And then he turns out to be a total dud later on. He get figured out or what?
Another example of great assistants. But he quickly went to nfl (he’s an introvert, so recruiting was not his favorite). Tried his offense and players hated it. Changed his philosophy up and got canned. I think ucla thought he would go back to his old ways in college but he never did.
