Imo #5 was a great ball. 4 was fine too.

1 wasn't great, but catchable.

2 was way too high and had his wr in danger.

3 was like 1. Bad ball, but catchable.

4 was just good defense mostly. But WR should've held on.

5 was all WR. Perfefectly placed.

The high throw to Squirrel was bad, the one to Castles was horrid. No way should you be that behind when he's that wide open. Then when he missed Bru in the endzone. All in all 3 egregious misses. That's not that terrible. But the Milton haters were poppin bottles after those, they loved it.

There were two other drops, Thornton on a slant and then Jabari dropped a layup screen pass.

Three bad throws, four bad drops. How do we feel if we complete at least two of those throws? My feeling is once we get one good completion we start rolling. If Bru grabs that first one it's off to the races. Similar to the Keyton drop in game one.

That's a good point. Maybe the staff learned from the Akron game last year or got a read early that AP was diving at knees or playing with malice.

Joe has to run at least 6 times against our better opponents, like Florida. Our running game depends on the threat of him taking off. Our passing game too.

We'll see what's really going on this weekend.
So we have had a problem running on second down, because we usually just run up the gut and the defense times it perfectly everytime. Perfect opportunity for Joe to keep that and hit the outside.

Considering he had perfect pocket for 3 of those, Joe should be kicking himself. No way those throws should be off. Of those shown, his best throws were under duress.

D’onte Thornton is starting to piss me off.

I am truly curious what we have put on film thus far this year, especially in the run game.

The Florida game is going to answer a lot of questions.

Season observations so far:
Defense is much better
Other teams are going to force Milton to beat them short over the middle and not deep.
Run game is improved and should get better when Cooper is back with Lane sliding over to replace Karic.

Opinion:
Heupel will not hesitate to pull Milton for Nico, if Milton cannot produce. I did not think he would do it yesterday, but now Heupel has an opportunity to prepare Milton for a switch if he fails to produce.
In the past Heupel has had no problem switching QBs, if he thought it would help his offense. He wants to score lots of points. 30 points does not do it for CJH.
By no means have rhe problems all been on Milton. In fact, if everybody else had done their jobs, most wouldn't even be concerned about the offense.

I say most because a few were already lining in wait for the opportunity to criticize him.

I vote we make some of Barb's dip for that chip, and not use Kim Klubnik's dip recipe. I don't want her and Tod having any reason to show back up at my house and desecrate my azaleas anymore.
You should be forced to live with them for the entire football season after starting that game thread last week.

Watched the game this morning. From reading the game thread last night, you'd think we were set to be a one win team this season.

It wasn't that bad, folks. Milton wasn't perfect, but he was completely fine. He didn't get ANY help from his receivers. I'll say it again, and y'all can get tired of hearing it.

Some of you have memorialized Hooker for sainthood, beyond what actually happened. Hooker was very accurate at times, and at times, he was just accurate enough for his receivers to help him out. And they were very good at helping him out.

Milton didn't get that last night. And just because some of you are deathly afraid MIlton will be terrible, you default to "terrible" with the slightest little excuse.

He'll be fine.

We'll be fine.

Last night was an overconfident team sleepwalking through a game, probably after watching a good bit of Florida film this week.

Go Vols, and let's look forward to the Swamp Saturday.
Very well said. All of it.

Danny White is going to have to start venting the referees.

(I do mean venting, as in cutting these fools.)

Rant incoming:

It's unbelievable how many alabama alumni/residents are part time officials in this league and are allowed to call TN games. They hate us and we hate them. An Alabamain born referee will not call a straight up game if the Volunteers are involved, it's impossible. Professional referees need to be hired and held accountable for the calls they make, especially the ones that are blatantly biased towards one team. The referees have too much power and can/will/have determined the outcome of several games. They dictate the pace of the game, spotting the ball, pass interference/holding, when to blow the whistle, injury timeouts, etc. The review team in Birmingham is the biggest joke ever. There's way too much money in college athletics not to have full time, honest officials.... especially in football and basketball. At least get the SEC Headquarters out of ALABAMA.... move it to Alaska if necessary. I saw earlier this week, that the SEC originated in Knoxville TN, who was the brainiac that said "let's move it to Birmingham. What could go wrong? 🤷"

End rant

Seriously.... Danny needs to do whatever he can to make sure the zebras have an equal number of stripes.... IYKWIM

Some people will think it's sour grapes, but I will never understand how officials aren't already vetted by the league. All you have to know is the circumstances of the calls in Pruitt's second season when the line judge blew the whistle to slow down our offense for no reason in the Bama game. He was a graduate of Hoover High School, his brother was pro-Bama on social media, and his aunt worked in the league office. How that can be acceptable is beyond me.

Nico isn't 100% healthy. I think it's fairly obvious at this point. Joe is the QB until he breaks or tears something. They bubble wrapped him last week and kept him in the pocket sans one QB draw after not handing it off running zone ready 20 times. Nico got zero reps. I know he "warmed up" when Joe looked shaken up, but give me a break.

We're stuck with Joe until the staff thinks Nico is prepared and/or healthy. Don't know how long that will take but Nico isn't playing in Gainesville.

He might when we are up by 5 scores.

Psy-op? He was warming up because that's what backups do but he wasn't getting any snaps. Hardly a tinfoil hat thing to say.

Joe ran twice.
-Once to end the half with the score.
-The other was right in the middle of the third quarter where he went down and took a late shot straight to the back.

Compare to how much we ran Hooker through the first two games last year, I think there is a decided mitigation of QB vulnerability.
That was not called by the crack officiating crew we had on Saturday, I would like to point out.

4 and 5 are great throws and just straight up drops. I mean if any of our recievers want to play on Sundays... #4 is a routine play in the NFL that should be a catch 99/100 times. And then 2 is just a bad throw.

1 and 3... It's just not good enough. That's a good throw in traffic if the safety is two yards in front of them about to lay a hit. But that's all green grass, routes on air. Yeah, they should catch those. For sure. But every HS QB in the state can throw a good enough ball to hit their hands right there. The standard simply has to be higher than that. He puts that ball in front of Bru there's a good chance he scores.

Anyway. No more over analysis of Austin freaking Peay from me lol. Sounds like they are doing everything they can to tighten it all up. Just time to wait and see what happens this weekend. No one on planet Earth will care about these throws if we beat Florida by two scores, which we have the talent to do.

This is absolutely a good thing. It means the team leaders didn’t like what they saw Saturday and are wanting to fix it. It shows to the culture and accountability that Heup has brought in
But how can we look at it from a negative point of view so that our prediction that the sky is falling can be justified?

He did hit Bru clearly in the hands on 1. Sure, Bru had to reach back a smidge to use his hands.

I would have to defer to others with more football knowledge though- was Bru supposed to sit a split second sooner? Or was Milton thinking he would be at a spot? Not all "bad" throws are physical. Some have to do with timing or with QB and WR not being on the same page.
