No my argument has been Nico because he's the one on our roster. We need young talent, and we needed it on the field yesterday. If it doesn't want to play don't take it.

He's only on the roster because we promised to uphold his redshirting wish.

The other young talent who do not wish to redshirt are an entirely different conversation.

Apples to oranges. Literally, elite but undersized QB talent to regular positional talent. They are not the same.

so if the plan all along was to redshirt nico, then WHY DIDNT WE GO AFTER A TRANSFER QB???? We wouldn’t be in this situation if we got a transfer qb. We could have sat Milton a long time ago and had a different qb, or at least sit him when he isn’t performing for the transfer, but instead we rode with a mediocre qb, a qb with no intentions of playing this year, and 2 walkons…

Could have easily went 5-7 with him as well. This site would have burned Heupel after an 11 win season
Huepel is to blame for all of it at the end of the day. Good or bad. Last year he got all the credit in the world and rightfully so. This year is not a good look and he deserves criticism. Defense improvement was fools Gold. Joe ended up being the joe none of us wanted. Seasons over and next year with expanded playoff should be primary focus. Fix the issues even if it means upgrading staff/ players. Huepel will be on the hot seat if he goes 8 or worse next year. No matter what these other morons says.

Don’t think people want to admit it, but we just don’t have that much talent on this roster, at least in the upper class. Not enough of a playmaker at qb, nobody on offense scares the opponent at wr, oline isn’t good enough at this point to dominate the way we would need to in order to run on people with a one dimensional offense.

Defensively, pretty decent up front, young at linebacker, nobody to lockdown on the outside and nobody to erase plays on the backend, especially without hadden.

Bottom line, 8-4 is a pretty decent season all things considered. A lot of the roster issues are due to factors outside of huepels control. Keep recruiting better, and stack classes like he has been. Then get a little bit of luck on the injury front going forward. Think likely a similar type season next year, then hopefully get back in contention the following year.

While I'm sympathetic to this line of thinking, we were not going to get a top tier QB transfer after Milton's play last year (which wasn't horrible) and Nico's hype coming in.

It doesn't matter if he's on the roster if he's not playing. With average QB play this team could've been 11-1, take that guy and move on.
This team didn't need a QB thay didn't want to play.

Don’t disagree. But saying this is the floor is a bit naive. If we played TAMU on the road, that’s likely a loss. We own UK, but that wasn’t a shoo in win. I agree that this isn’t a bad season and that the last two years, in a vacuum, are excellent for our recent history. But there are issues this staff has to address moving forward if they want to have longevity at a SEC blue blood.
Can’t include ifs. If we got Florida at home (before the team gave up on Milton) we could have won as well.

NM State beat Auburn today. They were 7-3 coming into the game with losses to UMass and Hawaii (2 of the worst teams in college football). They also lost to Liberty. All losses early in the season, yet they turned the season around and won on the road at Auburn. Wonder what made the difference? 7 game win streak

He won’t be on the hot seat if he goes 8-4 next year.

We will hear, “this was Nico’s first year, what’d you expect him to do”

That coupled with the fact that he and DW are buds.
