'Are we allowed to appeal?'Had to inform my students today that rather than assessing them on their performance throughout the semester, I will be convening a committee of individuals who have never taught a college course nor even actually taken one to assign their grades. Kirk Herbstreit told me it was a good idea.
I hope you're right on this because I do think we have a core group of players that can be really good but we need more than just a small core. We don't want to be one of those teams that waste a phenomenal QB with middle-of-the-road receivers and a couple of good linemen. Those teams end up good but always seem to be a player or two away.I think the AD & coaches feel like we should win a title in the next couple of years. I won't be surprised if we spend a massive amount on portal players. . . like a&m type of spending, in order to get the trophy.
I will say that though I disagree with you on this one, you always carry yourself very respectfully and I appreciate that.I know I don't get the benefit of the doubt here, but I'm not carrying Bama's water. I'd say the same things if any other team was in Bama's position. I am carrying the committee's water because I think they used a rational approach to this situation. People are trying to apply rules that were never codified and wouldn't work if they were.
There are two systems for choosing playoffs: subjective (voting/polls) or objective (WL records/tiebreakers). There's no such thing as a hybrid of those two. In a four team playoff I think the former, while not perfect, works better for getting the best potential matchups and I think it did that here. In a 12 team playoff we could conceivably switch to purely by the Won-loss record and end up including the best 4 teams, but it would still cause endless controversy.

Ah we have to play that guy again next year?Welfare check on @peaygolf after his coach going to UTEP.
I am actually glad you keep trying to steer conversations back to Recruiting. It is still that time of year.I bet we go after Will Sheppard from Vandy. Exactly the kind of receiver we look for. Talk outside guy who can run.
Another WR from Vandy who fits that mold is Landon Humphries. He’s a younger guy - I think a redshirt freshman. Tennessee kid. But rumored to already be headed to Georgia.
Two names I’ll be paying attention to.
