CJH seems OK with keeping the staff intact another year if Banks doesn't find a HC opp. All things equal, IDT he'll make a lateral move.
I understand not making a move for making a moves sake. But it makes me think there isn't a guy in waiting or interested that blows CJH away.

Or maybe I'm just looking at it differently than he is.

Kensucky is broke and they landed a QB and are about to land a starting rb.

When are we going to do something?
They are desperate and have glaring holes to fill and haven't been able to recruit and develop players in house. It's not sustainable for them. They are paying him too much for 8 win seasons and sooner or later they will call his tab.

VN on recruiting.."Staff and Spyre bitch bitch moan piss bitch moan piss piss bitch"

On Football coaching..."Heupel and staff bitch piss moan piss piss moan bitch bitch bitch"

On Rick Barnes..."BITCH BITCH BITCH BITCH PISS MOAN PISS BITCH ******* BITCH BITCH!!!"
Most days...

Seems we have some coaches that aren’t built for recruiting either.

Haven’t had a commitment since August, but we’ve been the bridesmaid a dozen times during that time.

Staff can’t close but at least the staff is likeable and feels like family.
I didn’t realize that only commits after September 1 counted.

Tim Brown also had 857 return yards with 3 TDs and another 144 rushing yards with 1 TD. So his total yards from scrimmage was 1847 with 8 total TDs... felt like it was a makeup for them not even having him in the voting for '86 though.

I'd actually have Charles Woodson winning as one of the top 5 worst!
529 total yards (receiving, rushing, returns) with 4 TDs and 7 INTs

But Ryan Leaf and Peyton Manning both having the season's they did basically split the QB votes. I think Randy Moss should have won it personally if not Peyton.

What about Coach Kellie?

I mean outside of our crappy DBs our defense isn’t bad. Our DBs couldn’t have covered a non-moving barn door……

If we even get semi decent DB coverage next year our defense will improve immensely

We have so many posters who just are not built for recruiting. I think I might be one of them because I freaking hate it right now.
I always used to freak out about recruiting good and bad...but a couple of years ago something changed and I just got over it...now I'm just like we get who we get and then we will find out if they are worth a damn or not.

I think the busts have made me that way more than the misses...you get so excited about landing highly ranked players and then they either outright suck or end up role players..🤦‍♂️

I really expected us to be hitting the portal pretty hard for DB help. Hopefully a few start popping up.

Joly is 6'3" 215lbs on UConn's website
Staes is 6'4" 242lbs on ND's website

I get the vibe Joly is more of a slower/bigger WR body and Staes is a HB/TE build.

Our smallest TE on roster right now is 230lbs.

Also I totally forgot about Okoye coming in with Davis... we probably aren't going to take 2 TEs and if Staes is the guy they want I don't mind it being him.

Staes, Davis, Okoye and Echols incoming = pretty solid TE group
I bet they are super excited about Davis next season, and Staes will fit the Bennett (I meant Warren) role (blocking first/catching a +) very nicely for a couple of seasons. TE room should be a strength.

Still laughing at myself and how dumb I felt turning on FS1, and seeing Seaton seated between Keyshawn and freaking Skip, and being like "alright, here we go!"

And then literally like a split second later it all hit me all at once how obviously not Tennessee that thing was going to break. 😂😂😂

It felt like showing up for a meeting with your boss, and HR is sitting in the room too. "Oh, hey! What are you doing here? Hey, wait a minute."

Probably because we have a coach that's winning football games. Back in the day recruiting was our only hope things would get better because the on-field product stunk. Not so anymore.

"I'm not getting promotion and a raise, am I? Yeah. Didn't think so."

I think it's this way for a lot of fans, and it's honestly because the portal is more significant than recruiting now. Even if you miss on a guy, or tier of guys, the portal is like a 2nd and 3rd recruitment.

Recruiting used to be paramount, because aside from this guy or that guy getting off the team, or getting some guy that might be able to start in 2 years, that truly was going to be your team for the short-term future.

Now you can show up for the season with a relatively new roster, or you at least know you have that opportunity to fill holes or bolster (quality) depth.

That's how I feel, anyway.

Yep. Really, the magic and the tragic have both been stripped from the recruiting cycle.
