I honestly don't know how I feel about that.I have always felt that this would be the natural progression of things. There are 130 (or so?) FBS teams and and only a small fraction of those teams can win a championship. I believe that we need to significantly cut down on the teams that are eligible to compete for a division 1 college football championship. My thought is that you could do it by revenue. I just do not see how the current model is sustainable.
It is being pushed big time by the state legislature.TSSAA is thinking about doing what Florida does and allowing high school students to be immediately eligible for sports wherever they show up to attend school at. They wouldn't have to move to the school district or anything. Kids could transfer to multiple schools in a year in be immediately eligible each time.
I was wondering last year why the OSU starting QB transferred to Ole Miss. A local radio guy here in Memphis who used to follow Ole Miss was recently talking about NIL. He said they gave that QB a huge deal, and he hardly played. The discussion was about NIL deals that don’t really work out, and it sounded like it was not a good deal for them to bring him in. I believe that is the exception and not the rule. I don’t believe our staff would ever do that considering money is not unlimited. This year was not an overachievement by any stretch of the imagination. We had the worst qb play and offense that heupel has ever fielded as a HC. Our defense let us down at the worst times, mainly at the secondary and sometimes at lb too, our passing offense was WILDLY inconsistent and we mismanaged the qb situation as a whole. If we had no intentions of playing Nico, then we should have either tried keeping Jackson or gotten a transfer qb. And dont try the bs of “no quality qb would come here because Milton already had the job” cause that is ********, look at Ole Miss: they had Dart locked as the starter and a good freshman qb coming in, yet they still pulled Oklahoma State’s leader in most passing records as well as another transfer qb.The fact how Heupel wants to keep Martinez and Banks simply for continuity is being complacent, the Missouri loss was on our defense foremost, we about lost to Kentucky because of our defense. Just because the stats show we are middle of the road does not show the true story
Yep. This staff has to get better at recruiting and the portal. It’s the new world and stop thinking they can develop everyone. This recruiting class is good, but portal needs to be knocked out and that’s where you fill needs. They would have destroyed us like Missouri.
Btw Missouri has 21 transfers in their two deep
