I cannot believe Ole Miss' collective has more money than Spyre. My ole miss booster friend said their collective will be over 7 million in deals this year alone. And to look out for next year because the ole miss foundation (traditional booster group prior to NIL) has decided to start partnering with the collective.
Ole Miss culture is to buy your way out of problems and/or buy your way into the club. They were slow to the party but they know what money smells like and they have pocketfuls tooMy ole miss booster friend said their collective will be over 7 million in deals this year alone. And to look out for next year because the ole miss foundation (traditional booster group prior to NIL) has decided to start partnering with the collective.
You're not wrong about that. It's the big money members who matter. If boosters buy into the new process and are willing to reroute money from stadium projects to players, your team will be able to afford the top players.
Exactly. Everyone here would be throwing a parade and starting the CFP bandwagon up if we had that haul. And what is exactly are they paying? We’d be talking about winning it all next year with that portal haul.
Kiffin isn't structuring anything.Exactly. Everyone here would be throwing a parade and starting the CFP bandwagon up if we had that haul.
But, yes, I'm very curious to know what these Ole Miss players are getting. Considering it has already been reported that one of their transfer targets didn't read the fine print about visiting schools, I wouldn't be surprised if some details were missed.
For example, there is a case for a player from the Chicago Bears who is going through the legal process becuase they signed a deal while at Florida that stated he would have to forfeit a percentage of his earnings for the rest of his NFL career to give back to the NIL company. I wouldn't be surprised if Kiffin is structuring some of these deals with shady stuff like this. It simply doesn't make sense that Ole is able to offer more on every single one of these players. For one or two that they covet, sure. But to outbid the rest of college football on anyone they want seems too good to be true.
Spyre and/or the athletic department has done an abysmal job marketing to people with money. Hardly any Tennessee fans I know have even heard of Spyre. We do have a much larger fan base, but the average fan has no clue about the whole NIL process. You're not wrong about that.
We have a much larger and more invested fan base than most. We could have "regular" fans contributing $1M-$2M/year, which can be a difference over programs in the Ole Miss tier, but it just didn't take off.
Maybe when their Ole Miss friends and coworkers brag about buying great players in the portal, Tennessee fans will start to think "how do we do that"Spyre and/or the athletic department has done an abysmal job marketing to people with money. Hardly any Tennessee fans I know have even heard of Spyre. We do have a much larger fan base, but the average fan has no clue about the whole NIL process.
That will be the story once/if Ole Miss is caught doing shady stuff. But I guarentee he understands what the offer towards each player is and what advantages Ole Miss has in being able to offer all these players what they are. There has to be a budget and priority list.Kiffin isn't structuring anything.
I know he put together some Roman chariots back in the day.I think @InVOLuntary might have helped assemble that one.
been saying same for a while. that said there are literally no players on that squad, future or present; save Nolan; that I give one **** about.Spyre and/or the athletic department has done an abysmal job marketing to people with money. Hardly any Tennessee fans I know have even heard of Spyre. We do have a much larger fan base, but the average fan has no clue about the whole NIL process.
And refuse to do anything significant to change their marketing. That is the bigger sin imoSpyre and/or the athletic department has done an abysmal job marketing to people with money.
