I was hoping for one more offensive lineman. One significant injury and we could be thin there. I suspect there will be more enter the portal in the next cycle.

I want to see Nico as much as anyone. I'm excited, I'm ready. However, if Joe wants to play, and the coaches still truly believe he gives us the best chance to win, Joe is who I want to go with.

This bowl game is VERY IMPORTANT. I know some in here think they're meaningless, and in many, they are; but, not this one. 9-4 looks a hell of a lot better than 8-5...not just in reality, but in our case, it's a monument, it looks way better on paper (20 wins in 2 seasons; 20-6 in the last two seasons, with back to back bowl wins)..it is a much easier sell to recruits, plain and simple.

If we win, it will be a big one, imo.
Brilliant post. Thank you

Im guessing 8th in the SEC is a great spot to be in recruiting?
Why do people CHOOSE to look at everything through the most miserable perspectives possible.

"13th in the country, nice... now how can I make this look bad?"

Find me the difference in numerical average between 4th and 8th. We're actually higher than LSU and less than a point from the other 4-7. With scholarship reductions our total will inevitably be lower. If we get McKinley we jump.

Compare our recruiting now versus the recent past. Our average recruit is higher rated now than anytime since Fulmer probably. We've had more 5 stars in Heupel's classes than the last couple eggheads combined.

There's a million things you can look at and be pleased with and happy about, but y'all choose to nitpick the bad.

I'd also add, if somehow we did lose...and it's with Nico UTG...it will play far worse.

Not that I at all expect us to lose. Actually think we win pretty handily. But if we lose with Nico the negas will be out in force and McGill is going to blow his load.

Same folks that probably drive to work every day grumbling how they have to go to work, rather than realizing how fortunate they are that they get to go to work and provide for their families day in and day out.

hilarious. we can't play our top signees because they may not be as good as advertised and it will give ammo to the people who aren't sold on the head coach yet.

I look at things realistically and as they are, and I see us ranked at 8th In the conference in recruiting, and just missed on an Instate players that all the “experts” claimed we were getting

Not "can't play".

I'm saying play your best guy to win the game. Not playing "for the future". If that's Nico, then I'm all for it. But so far that's not what the coaches have shown is their belief.

If they flip the table and suddenly "play for the future" and lose, there's a real downside there.

Folks say "you can't just play the veteran because he's the veteran" and I fully agree. But you also don't play "the top signee" just because he's a top signee.

Are we supposed to go from a middling lost in the wilderness of meatyocre coaches and paper tiger recruiting classes to Bama/UGA level cruitin machines overnight? Even before UGA hired Smart, they consistently won 9-10 games per year. They only fahrd Richt because it was obvious that he wasn't going to get them to the promised land. They still had consistency in their program and just needed a little push. We are having to dig out of a hole that has been dug over a decade and a half of incompetent AD and coaching fumblings. So what we have got is good and now we need the coaches to do more with it so it can become great in a couple of years after we show consistent winning can happen here too.
The haters and losers simply need to choose joy. Life is too short

i wasn’t upset like some that it looked like we were taking sensabaugh and i’m not upset that we aren’t… it’s really not a huge deal.

I I thank God, my family, and all my fans on social media for the opportunity I have

with that being said, I’m bringing my talents and my family and committing to Knoxville Tennessee.

Respect my decision
Damnnnnn. That’s Tennessees biggest transfer get of the off-season so far.

Seriously though, Congratulations!

I see handwringing about Tennessee being ~8th in the SEC in recruiting.

When I look at the restructured SEC on paper, I quickly find seven schools that probably should be expected to match or exceed Tennessee most years:

- Texas, Florida, Texas A&M, Georgia - massive pool of elite instate talent that surpasses Tennessee

- Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma - elite traditions that surpass Tennessee and/or recent national success / instate talent

I don’t look at that and say Tennessee should automatically be top three or four every year.

It’s going to be a complete dogfight in the new SEC.

Buckle up.

Yup, Sankey has diluted our stock in the SEC.

Even historically, we'll go from 2nd most history rich program in the SEC to 4th...over night.

And all for more $$$ in his pockets. The extra money going to the schools is a wash and only helps the bottomfeeders that can't do it on their own smh

**** THAT GUY

Sankey needed approval from every member school.

And still dead center middle of the pack in the conference. That’s his point. It’s good, but it’s not good enough.
A....nd...Heupel built a NC contender out of rejects and role players last year...which just shows me that if you give him a good QB...he will compete with anybody.

Screw Swain...it's easy to 💩 on Tennessee, just join the jackass crowd on the inside and outside of the fanbase that never stops.
