If NCAA goes to radios in helmets to call plays in...

Will Head Coaches begin to let College Quarterbacks audible out of plays...?

Are you trying to say that Milton called plays?
They are given run/pass options and determine what to run based on defensive players in the box. They then determine the pass option based on position of the DB’s. The criticism of the offense has been that it’s too simple. While we have certainly run some intermediate routes, I read about Heupel’s offense when he was hired, and it was mentioned that a majority of calls are within 5 yards of the LOS or deep passes. Heupel values playmakers in space and not turning the ball over. Intermediate throws that are off can result in turnovers.

This offense is taught to the QB’s, and they make decisions based on the defensive alignment. I guess some plays could come in when we slow it down, and they look over. But the teaching is done preseason and in practice. It’s all option routes based on alignment. I just don’t believe the offense changed a whole lot from year to year. The players did.
Gameplan and situationally play calling was worse this year compared to last year. That's what changed imo. I've said certain postions regressed compared to last year but I think coaching regressed as well (i.e. gameplan, play calling etc).

Love it!!! 🧡 Sorry for the confusion. I was just a cheerleader in high school. Went to tryouts at MTSU and would have probably made it but then they said we had to stay all weekend. No way was I not going home to see my boyfriend (hubby)! It wasn’t TN after all! I just put cheerleader in there because someone thought they were insulting me saying I was a cheerleader. 😂
If it was me, I sincerely apologize.

I’m guessing any difference in play calling was due to personnel. The offense is Heupel’s baby.

Joe was the best he's been his entire career and he did have a solid year statistically. I'm happy for him getting to start the entire season and he definitely showed improvement. I hope he gets drafted and has a long career in the NFL. I like Joe and I'm not blaming him for every failure this season.

That being said, the coaches were limited in what they could run on offense. You don't have to believe it, but that's absolutely the case. That doesn't mean the coaches always made the right call and every instance of failure was Joe's fault...but they had to shrink the offense down a lot. Don't be shocked next year when the play calling and gameplans magically look more like we saw Heupel's first two seasons.
Whats something tangible you can share to prove that the reason the offense was limited solely because of the QB?? Joe's numbers are in line with Hendon over the past 2 seasons.

If you are saying the offense was limited or worse (all of this is in comparison to 2022) and Joe played a factor among other factors that I've mentioned earlier than we are in agreement. My beef is most folks are saying we were "limited" bc of the QB when his numbers mirror Hendon's.

And I don't disagree that the offense will probably be better than 2023 next year. But my belief is not solely based on the QB. Comparing 2023, we will be better on the Oline and WRs and I expect a better Joey Hazle and CJH from the gameplan, play design, play calls going into Year 2. I do also think Nico is the real deal.

he made 1-2 but not many….. take away the two bombs and he averaged less than 6 ypa…. that is the problem…. he couldn’t efficiently move the football.
??? Take away the 2 bombs? What, they don't count?

Take away a rb's long runs and ypc goes down too. Take away a wr's long pass plays and his ypc goes down. And you can say the same about other qbs.

You don't get to pick and choose which to count.

Our offense was definitely limited this year.

Was it o line or QB?

A combination of both?

Joe in the orange bowl looked nothing like Joe in 2023.

We basically have the same O line coming back.

I hope the coaches don’t handcuff Nico because they don’t trust the line.
