It’s certainly a possibility, but isn’t his ex’s family affiliated somehow at Florida? Maybe it wouldn’t be a factor, but it might. And you’re right…he’d kill it there.

Florida looks to be somewhat of a lateral move from Ole Piss at this point too. Maybe the Gators would be his next step, but that certainly wouldn’t prohibit his interest in Bama if the timing was right. The only entity Lane is loyal to…is Lane.

UF is not a lateral move

UF is not a lateral move

5 years ago, I would have 100% agreed without hesitation. In the NIL world it's harder to say. We've seen Kiffin spend to what we assume is a high degree (we don't really know how much any of them are making) and we've seen UF lose an incoming freshman because their NIL couldn't come through on their promise.

It's possible for sure that the Florida NIL is larger than Ole MS, but I'm not certain. Either way if it's close to equal, I'd agree UF is better.

Not from a potential salary and recruiting standpoint…you’re right. But in current/ recent levels of success and national prominence it is.

Lane would turn all of that around…but I still believe that Bama is the Brass ring for him. He’d drop everything to be the Tides head coach. There is nothing more prominent.

Ol’ Layla causing him trouble? I’d hate that. I just figure that this feels like his last year at Ole Miss with all of the chips being pushed in with that transfer all-star team he’s assembled. Combine that with the likelihood of Napier being fired mid-season with the schedule they have.

Certainly a very likely possibility. Like I said though…I think he’d sell out his own mother to land the Bama job. He’s been to the promised land, and seen it first hand. Whoever gets him next better wear their cup…Saban won’t coach forever.

I was super excited for the bowl game but now I'm super duper excited for it

Would love to hear who people think the moon is?

Lane would not be a bad choice, if not Lane who? Kirby? Dabo?, Sarkisian? There is not a lot of proven coaches out there if you really think about. Up and comers maybe but who is the moon? Remember the Jimbo Fisher moon turned out to be a mirage.
Kirby Smart, Kalen deBoer, Dan Lanning, Ryan Day, Dabo Swinney, Jim Harbaugh, Lincoln Riley. Those are the "name" coaches out there, right now.

There are a few understated options, too. Matt Rhule may eventually work himself into that conversation if he can produce at Nebraska after what he already did at Temple and Baylor. Lance Leipold at Kansas and Chris Klieman at Kansas State are both lifers who have worked themselves up thru the ranks and been successful everywhere they've been. None of those are "moon" guys, though. Not yet.

I didn't say Lane would be a bad choice. In fact, I think he'd likely be the best mix of both good coach, recognizable name, and realistic choice.
