Why? Why is it crazy to put all the blame on the players? That's the fallacy of the middle ground. And does their loyalty make them better players? Did it make them catch dropped passes or complete overthrows? Should the coaches be expected to snap their fingers and player issues magically disappear? It's also crazy to try and put all the blame on Milton, as some have done, or on the players in general. Yes, they deserve some of the blame. So do the coaches as they are the leaders of the team. I know Heupel inherited a mess. I also know our players stayed loyal to the program throughout that mess.
Didn't AR apparently put up historic combine numbers?Anthony Richardson had a bad year at Florida and got drafted in the first round. Joe had an average year here and will arguably look better at the combine than AR did. I'd be shocked if he goes undrafted given the precedent for drafting combine heroes.
As some expert pointed out a few weeks ago - this is the worst Alabama team in 15 years.Question for the resident bettors. Why the hell is Michigan favored against Bama. Do we believe they will truly win?
An illustration:
Someone takes a stock Corvette (year 3 Vols) and finishes 10th in F1 (the SEC). Do you start a conversation questioning the leadership that did that? or do you say, "Damn! That's pretty impressive! I can't wait to see what happens when they get an F1 car!"
Bonus point: It's not an insult to point out that the Corvette isn't on par with F1 cars. It's not calling it a bad car. It's not calling for the crusher. It just is what it is, and it isn't what it
isn't.
Tbf APR has been the criteria for some time (if) a 5-7 team had to be snuck in. And if there has to be criteria, it at least seems laudable.Yall see the Minnesota game last night? Minn has a 5-7 record. Get thison how they received an invitation and the tie breaker. Ridiculous and Too many bowl games.
According to CBS Sports, Minnesota was picked for the Quick Lane Bowl because of all NCAA teams that have won five games this season, the Gophers have the best Academic Progress Rate (APR).

How did the Gophers get into a bowl game with a 5-7 record?
The Gophers are certainly no strangers to bowl games. Including Tuesday's win, they've won seven-straight bowls, with five of those wins under current coach P.J. Fleck.www.cbsnews.com
Can't answer "why", but the question that begs to be asked is it fair now that they're all paid entities? Here's where I'm at... Why do we as fans need to play the blame game at all? Why do we feel the need to hold players or coaches "responsible"? Why do we need to choose *now* as the moment to decide that Golesh was the secret sauce of the offense?
What is the driving need to make unsupported statements like that at all?
Why not look back at the state of the program and the fans' expectations a couple of years ago and say something to the extent of "Thank God we're ahead of schedule."
Maybe even offer, "Perhaps we can take some hope from the fact that the staff got out of that team what they did get out of it."
That's the thing for me. I'm not sure why we need to attribute blame. If you feel like "you" (not you, you) have something to place blame for, you are entitled as hell and slept through a large chunk of UT recent history.
Whether play calling changed or not, are you suggesting the coaches always made the perfect play call and it was the players' fault for failing to execute? That's absurd. It's not all on the players. It's not all on the coaches. Why? Why is it crazy to put all the blame on the players? That's the fallacy of the middle ground. And does their loyalty make them better players? It's not an argument about whether they're good people, vols 4 life, or should be appreciated.
The context was play-calling. @Jackcrevol seemed to be making the argument that:
1--QB play was much worse.
2--WR play was much worse.
3--Play-calling changed, so it seems pretty obvious that Golesh leaving was the issue.
That doesn't follow. It's actually a pretty irrational argument to list the reasons that play-calling changed, and then form the conclusion that play-calling should have stayed the same.

I know y’all wanna go outside for a hire when the time comes but why has Kara Lawson never seriously been talked about? Or has she?
