The OU-Arizona game last night should hopefully temper expectations for Nico on Monday. Jackson Arnold was also a true freshman 5-star in that class and while he showed a lot of promise for his future, he also threw 3 INT’s. That’s what true freshman making their first starts are likely to do, no matter how talented they are. The outcome of this bowl game means nothing in the long run, but the development we can get for Nico should be very valuable, even if he makes mistakes.
I watched that game with our game in Norman in 2024 in mind, of course.
Dont know that I learned a whole lot.
OU’s new QB and new OC will have three games, all in Norman, before hosting UT.
Temple, Houston, and Tulane should give OU enough of a challenge for our defensive coaching staff to know what to expect when the Sooners host the Vols.
Meanwhile, Nico will have played Chatt and Kent State at home and NCSU in Charlotte.
So, it will be Nico’s first true road test. Should be interesting especially if both teams are 3-0.

Honest question, and while I agree. Is this quote one of Shane Beamer hands stretched upward, TD Gamecocks. F TN 57 SC 7? Or, one of we finna land some players?

Good class defensively. Decent class last year. Still needs some crucial pieces.
We seem to be having a problem with elite defenders coming to play here.

Any bourbon this expensive better 1. Taste like the nectar of the gods 2. Kill me immediately and painlessly 3. Send me straight to Heaven.

Not a big Walker fan. Wouldn't make my top 20 and certainly not at that price. Old Rip Van Winkle 25 year is king of the holy grail bourbons....none of which I'll ever get to experience. Less than 1000 are out there. Think it's going for around 50K.

Not sure there’s a correlation between the two. Both OC’s are running the same veer and shoot system and it’s not like the new guy is drawing up INT plays. Those typically come from a QB not recognizing what he is seeing in the defense.
there might not be a correlation but it definitely could be…. The Head coach is a defensive coach and the new OC is wanting to run a different style of offense.

And that's what our offense is missing. Despite Nico's reported talents, he needs tools. I don't see our WRs coming anywhere close to Hyatt and Tillman. They don't have the speed. They've not shown that they even have the hands. Right now I'm not sure they can run decent routes much less make all the reads that are required in this offense.

Not sure what Iowa does in recruiting, but they apparently do more with less. Maybe we'll need to be better at coaching/development because I don't see us eclipsing either bama or uga in recruiting in my lifetime. I try to imagine what the Iowa defensive coaching staff could do with our talent and dream of seeing it happen here. Yeah, sometimes I do like to visit fantasy land.

I would like to request prayer for my dad, in the past week he has found out that he has cirrhosis of the liver, that his kidneys are shutting down and that he has stage 4 cancer.
I'm so sorry to hear this. I know what that is like. My deepest sympathies and prayers for you and your father. I will pray that he's a believer and his reward awaits. If not, I pray that he'll make that choice before his day comes. God bless you and yours.
