Recruiting Football Talk VII

Yes. Except that Bama is in the playoffs solely as a result of corrupt officiating and is a massively corrupt program built on enforcement exemption and conference manipulation. They should both be on probation.
The NCAA doesn't have proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that Saban himself bribed officials or some other specific act of cheating. They do with Harbaugh.

No, Saban didn't want anything to change in college football. Why would he? his players drive around in new cars from his dealership, and no one says anything about it. Fulmer brings a bag of tacos to hungry players, and they wrote about it for ten years. Fulmer hires cornbread to bring in the Bama way and we get the punishment. Okay, fine. Lesson learned. I'm all about rearranging the system now.

We got Nico the legitimate way and Nick is still pissed about it. That was where Nick went from bragging about his backup QB making a million a year to bitching about pay for play.

I don't know that Mizzu's win last night will be the recruiting benefit some of you fear it will be. Sounds like Mizzu is the setup for a OSU punchline. It's not that Mizzu is so good they beat OSU. It's that OSU is so bad they lost to... *Mizzu*!
Yep. Nobody is celebrating Mizzou as a new power program, they're just laughing at OSU for losing to chumps.

Eli will waltz through one more easy year, then regress to the mean. He'll lose Cook and most likely have a more difficult schedule in 2025, and we'll quickly forget about Mizzou.

Think the Congresses should get involved, make it law. I have absolute faith that they and NCAA will get it right.
Idk if current law extends that far. Maybe it does.

Employment law can dictate whether a payor should make one a contractor vs employee based on whether or not the employer directs how the work must be done (employee) or the worker self-directs how they get the job done (1099/contractor). Sadly a lot of companies cheat on this to avoid paying employment taxes...then the invidual gets stuck with the entire 15.3% tax bill. Smh

But idk if they can force them to compensate players in cash. Good question. @VolGee4

Likely.

But I wouldn't be mad at all if they took a spot near the 2nd/3rd tier. Better than UF, USCjr, UK or the geographically closer programs doing it.

Let Mizzou and Ark go run the western SEC states, happily. They have low ceilings. UF...Auburn...OU...Tx...LSU do not.

This right here..Truth!! 👆👆

How so lol

Based on winning a certain tier bowl (vs QB3 😅) or going "11-2"?

Superficially equal, only.

Let's see:
Mizzou - 2 ranked wins all year (😅) v #25 and a QB3 OSU, no MJHjr, etc
+12 ppg
Highest cfp rank 9th

Tenn - 4 ranked wins, including #1 Alabama with reigning Heisman, LSU with future Heisman in their building, reigning ACC champs Pitt, and current ACC champs Clemson with the best-parented 5* QB all-time
+24 ppg
Highest cfp rank #ONE
Well done!

There is/has been a slow annual decline since Urban left. Soon enough they will look like Clemson post great assistants. They will have dudes and yet play for nothing significant. Massive coaching gap between Harbaugh and Day. It’s the same thing with Oregon and Washington. Oregon has the players but Washington has the coach.

Not necessarily disagreeing, but curious to see what Washington can accomplish post-Penix.

Yosemite and Glacier are my top two bucket list national parks to go to.

Cool thing is that I get to go to Portland, Maine for a work conference in June. Gonna take a few extra days and hit up Acadia and some other places near there, so I get to cross that NP off the list.
Also...my little brother has gone up to Acadia the last two years along with one trip to Zion, and he rubs it in every chance he gets because he got there before me and he knows they are both next on my bucket list...lol.

I just start showing him pics of the 26 NPs and 25-30 "best in the country" state parks and drives I've been to that he hasn't yet...lol.

One thing I remember is right before they joined the SEC they had a couple years of big success. Think they even reached #1 for a poll or two. Had a decent team coming into the league. Also had a very good coach.

That state puts out a surprising number of top 100 recruits. St louis produces. Besides that, yeah the program is handtied. But a good enough coach could make them mid-SEC YoY

Too early to tell, but Drinkowitz is trending positively in recruiting, development, on the field. I was impressed how they got better over this season
Might as well accept it, Dorkfisht is a good coach and they not going away as long as he can keep his defensive staff together.

Too early to say one way or the other. Definitely having his glow up right now but Gus Bus played for a NC at AUB. Chizik even won one. Think they’re good HCs?

We’ll see if he can sustain over an extended period of time.

I’m an absolute sunshine pumper.
Only I see sunshine and American Daisies! (Source of Pantone 151).

A true VFL will never scream like a 2 year old brat. JMO.

Trying to catch up is getting easier when I figured out how to scroll through the bitching over a very good recruiting class. How to skip all the posts about the football drama queens and attention whores (deion and kiffin to name a couple).

Unfortunately, it’s been like panning for gold trying to find the good posts lately.

Happy Holidays VN!
Sunshine and Daisies! I’m keeping that one!

And panning for gold is exactly right! And I am trying to learn how to scroll past them.

They also looked dreadful despite getting a win. And that was them at nearly full strength!

Acadia is at the top for me now.

What are some of your favorite state parks?

OSU was also nearly at full strength. Not on offense bc MHJ and QB situation, but the only other guys who missed the game were a couple defensive players who were injured.

Not sure how that narrative got spread that OSU was missing a lot of players.

Forgive us for going through the mourning process of what we have loved for decades dying a painful death. What it transitions to may end up being something wonderful too, but it won’t be what we loved. So we will have to grow to love it. All I ask is to move the transfer portal until after the season.
In less than five years, I envision somewhere between 60-80 schools will have separation from the NCAA into
4-5 football only divisions. That will lead to expanded playoffs somewhere between 16-24 teams. That will bring in huge new tv contracts.
