I disagree...not every talented kid would decide to go pro under those conditions....it would not be f'n "intramural" football.You described intramural football, which would never garner the fandom necessary for the TV contracts that would allow you to watch it. It is what it is.
Purists want the purity of unpaid athletes, but would need the talent that makes it possible to exist in a consumable fashion. If you want intramural football, you can't live in Kentucky and watch the Vols.

You also skated over the fact these kids are paid by fans to play now...and they crap on the obligation. They CHOOSE to take the money for their service...and then don't want to COMPLETE the service....that is akin to stealing..Happy New Year to You..
