Recruiting Football Talk VII

You also skated over the fact these kids are paid by fans to play now...and they crap on the obligation. They CHOOSE to take the money for their service...and then don't want to COMPLETE the service....that is akin to stealing.

If you pre-pay somebody to work 40 hours and then they say 🤬 you and the horse you rode in on and walk at 39 hours...they took money for a service that was not rendered to you.
The colleges don't pay them to play a bowl game. The colleges have made billions off of these kids for decades by effectively conspiring to limit pay to zero. The athletes are being paid for NIL. Not for playing.

You can't say, "The kids don't deserve to be paid to play the game!" and then paint them as evil for not playing a game.

Happy New year, LA.

Your points are exactly why I don't put any faith in the legitimacy of college football. It's completely scripted, imo. They know who is going to win the championship before the first kickoff of the season.
Happy New Year to you, InVOL! Hope it's a good start to a good year.

CFB storylines are scripted, for sure. The announcers hammer home their talking points, and they have their supporting graphics all cued up. They're looking to package games that have compelling (to them) storylines capable of pulling in the largest audience with ad-friendly demos. Every year it gets a little more annoying, with their in-game interviews, pre-taped segments and advertorial inserts running over live action. It's no longer just a football game; it's packaged entertainment.

They don’t have to play. In fact, over all those oppressive years, I have it on good authority that nobody has ever been forced to play college football against their will.

People can feel how they feel about it. It is what it is. But the kids choose to play the game.

We are the ones that make the money possible...and we are the ones that truly get 🤬ed over.

You are right...it will just become a scripted reality show because it serves their interests...and the legions of blind fool fans will just keep on throwing money into the machine.
You're right about fans having the power. People have to spend for others to prosper. Theaters are closing because the audience stopped paying the prices and are staying home. So content adapted. Cable ascended, then made way for streaming platforms. The model adapted. Content changed. The money still flowed.

Hollywood always reinvents itself. The constant-- people have to spend for others to prosper.

This is the most entertained culture in history. At least in the West, entertainment has become the altar of self-worship.

I think we see hints of that with the attitude that, "Those young men should threaten their careers and future earning powers (for free) so that these bowl games are more entertaining FOR ME. If they don't THEY'RE SELFISH."

Can we please stop propping Georgia up? They whooped an FSU team that quit. Who cares? Eff Georgia.
It's hilarious how far the SEC/pro-committee crowd has to stretch to perform their mental gymnastics.

First 13 games: "None of those games mattered"

14th game after everyone left: "Wait...this game...yeah this game matters!"

Make up yer mind. Because it's not logical.

The NCAA did a masterful job for decades convincing fans that scholarships were enough value for the players. So much more money is flowing now that it’s criminal if these kids don’t get their earned share. It’s pretty un-American and for some reason people can compartmentalize this specific situation to justify them not being paid. It’s very weird.

I think they need a base salary system for all players at schools that can afford to be part of it. Then if a kid wants to opt out, they can, but will miss out on a portion for not playing.

The next adaptation needs to be a P2W (Pay to Watch) model. Pay me to watch this drivel. I could get into that lol

Fans think they're in the center of things 🤣😅

It's even worse seeing the entitled fans lashing out at players from the stands. Thinking their ticket entitles them to treat another human unlike they would in any other situation.

"Shut up and clap".

Can I just say - you are very wise. Idk if you still (fwir) work for UT - but if so, glad to have you on our side.

You are our Yoda.

It's going to come down to contracts. When large sums of money changes hands, it usually does.
