He declared his allegiance to FSU earlier today. That's usually a sign he's turned down another opportunity. You have to understand coaching sign language.

Looked like basic coach speak to me subject to hindsight, but maybe.

That's taking us back a full 30 years, oddly enough the '92 winner was Bama with Stallings coaching. I'm curious if any of the younger coaches in retirement miss it enough to return...Bob Stoops is only 63, Urban Meyer is only 59, Gene Chizik is only 62 (he's been gone the longest, but also only spent 6 years as a HC), and I'm sure Jimbo Fisher isn't done yet at just 58...although oddly enough he seems the oldest of the bunch

Not sure any NFL guys want to step into college and deal with all that recruiting adds to the plate, but I will say if you want full control it's a bit easier to get it in college than the NFL.

Edit: brain fart the BCS went for twice as long so reorganized the list to show it 😅
Strong way of saying there's a near 0% chance they get a "national championship winning" HC like they did with Saban.

Gosh, I couldn't be sadder for those good folks.

This. Regardless of who they land, it will be a massive downgrade walking into an impossible pressure cooker of expectations.

The fact that we've been as close to Bama in the last 2 years (won 2 years ago and was up 13 at the half this year) when they had an absurd talent advantage and the GOAT coaching, speaks volumes of where we are at, who our coach is, and where we are heading.
We beat Saban this year, too, on the merits. The Birmingham office stole the game for Saban in what was perhaps the most blatantly obvious rigged outcome in football history.

Don't be bashful.

Kalen DeBoer really mismanaged the final few minutes in the semifinal game with tejas and just about got the huskies beat. He also looked like the national championship stage was way too big for him, especially during the 1st quarter. His team mirrored his "deer in the headlights" vibe. He seems like a pretty decent fellow and I would welcome him to the SEC. Then I'd hate him for being lead gump.

They seem pretty idiotic for not being excited about Deboer

The rest...yeah...

I really hope they "land" Locksley, Drinkwitz, or their OC 😅🤣

Don’t see DeBoer winning many recruiting battles vs Kirby, which is the level of recruiting Bama expects now.

That’s the problem for any new coach going in. Everybody will be considered a failure.

DeBoer would be a terrible hire for them, imo. Grubb is elite, but Washington likely promotes him to HC if KD leaves (if not, he’s getting another job in a year-ish anyways). KD also has zero ties personally or recruiting wise to the south. That said, hope they get him!
Disagree. He’s a helluva coach and leader and those types win wherever they go at the same level.
