While I agree it will be the most talent. It’s also such a shift in pressure. He’s an X’s and O’s Guy which I prefer usually as my coach, but just think we could see a quick talent shift even if he goes 10-2 next year. Once that talent gap starts it could be tough to recover. Also interested in what staff will look like.

Bro his daughter goes to school here, he is in his 60’s and has absolutely no relationship with Deboer and we could match whatever bama would offer…it’s not even a question

I don’t think he would go anywhere either, but “it’s not even a question” are famous last words that we Vol fans say often.

The guy went 25-3 in 2 years and made the title game with the #26 most talented team. Obviously he can "play up" his talent.

He was the 4th most talented team in his own conference. Didn't matter much.

Now...if he goes and recruits 10th nationally year after year and thinks he's doing well...he'll find himself 6th in his own conference behind (at least) UGA, TAMU, LSU, TX, OU.

Our talent gap will continue to shrink between us and Bama. At that point, Bama is banking on Deboer being a far better HC than...Saban(the goat...). Imo we'll be neck-to-neck, which is far better than the last 17 years. There's still UGA, but we've closed that gap immensely and now we don't face them every year.

I though we'd be neck and neck with Bama regardless.

Of course we haven't put together a truly elite roster yet, however we continue to improve it. We'll be top 15 in talent next season. On the 50%+ side of the blue chip ratio finally.

Hard to think Deboer can't coach though, if his career record is any indication he knows how to win football games. Dude was 67-3 with 3 titles in 5 years in the NAIA level. 9-3 at Fresno (throwing out covid year)

Washington was 4-8 and in two years he went 11-2 and 14-1 national title appearance. 104-12 overall.
Not going to buy the "can't win in the SEC" argument just yet lol

But I ain't worried. We have our guy.

The question is will he still get the calls and protection Saban got. Another question is…Is that why Saban is staying in the building?

I don't view DeBoer's issue to be the quality of his coaching. Recruiting in the South with no relationships whatsoever is going to be his issue.

First of all, I’m not a bro and second of all, I didn’t know his daughter went to UT..Hard to keep track of all the fine details.🤷‍♀️

Im sure he can win in the SEC but the problem is he won’t recruit at the same clip as Saban, that’s why they wanted Dan Lanning more

Both those are worse, in my opinin
Especially Sark, don't know how in the world people think because of one good year in a bad big 12 at one of the easiest schools in the country he's one of the top coaches in America.

Lanning I can see an argument for, he's excellent too.

Bama doesn't have the money to compete with NIL. It was all Nick base recruiting. Wide difference in funding. Before, they did not need as much because it was under the table and competing with few schools. Now, everyone can do it, more schools have more funds including UT and the other UT in Austin.
