Especially Sark, don't know how in the world people think because of one good year in a bad big 12 at one of the easiest schools in the country he's one of the top coaches in America.

Lanning I can see an argument for, he's excellent too.

I don't think Sark would have done well in Tuscaloosa and has a much better chance of success where he is. If Lanning accepted the gig and hit on success at age 37, that would be at least 30 more years of misery going against Bammer. I am very glad he turned them down. But I did want Bammer to have to go further down the list than DeBoer.

Im sure he can win in the SEC but the problem is he won’t recruit at the same clip as Saban, that’s why they wanted Dan Lanning more

Perhaps not, but I think he and Kirby's stranglehold was on notice regardless because

The Vols are back, Texas is back, LSU is stable, Oklahoma is in the league, Michigan is a thing now. Ohio State still recruiting like crazy, Clemson is still there, FSU is starting to look elite. Oh yeah, Mizzou looks good.

I just think this current iteration of the SEC and college football as a whole is stronger than what Saban had to deal with for most of his career. The only thing is Florida sucks.

Saban would not have the same success if a lot of those programs weren't totally in the dumps....screw the gumps!

I actually agree with Reggie about Saban. Saban is a hell of a recruiter and will always do well on the trail. Problem is big schools with money can now poach that talent that isn’t playing and he can’t hoard five and four stars all over the roster. As you saw with a lot of players leaving before he even retired. It’s a different era of football and those with money will win.
