Saying you saw Vols fans who wanted to drop Bama doesn't address Pates hypocrisy.

The very next week. Saban comes out and crying about possible having to keep Tennessee and LSU on their schedule. Did Josh make fun of Nick for being scared? Hell no. He defended him.

I'm on X a few times a day and I don't remember any Vols fans crying about keeping Bama.

Shoot, there were posters in this very thread that didn’t want to keep Bama on the schedule. Maybe we don’t swim in similar circles on Twitter but I saw it plenty there too. I do think most UT fans that can remember before 2007 will scoff at the thought of removing Bama, myself included, but I saw the opposite opinion enough to know there was a portion of our fan base that wanted that. If he’s saw people with that opinion like I did, he called them out.. just like I’ve heard him do on other occasions to almost everyone.. including Bama and UGA.

Honestly though, if we can’t listen to any media member that has made a joke at UTs expense in the past 20 years, then we’d have no one to listen to. From my perspective, Pate has been very fair to UT the last two years I’ve been a listener, and he’s pretty fair all the way around to everyone. I do think he’s dug a little too deep into the Bama/DeBoer/Portal situation a little too much though. I’ve skipped those segments.

I quit the NFL years ago. Take a knee is not for me. Peyton kept me engaged for a while, but the game has changed and it's lost it's appeal for me. Personally, I've filled that void with MMA and haven't missed pro football at all. Enjoy the UFC but ONE is fantastic. It never disappoints. 165 was a great card. Highly recommend anyone taking a look if you enjoy combat sports. Won't post it here, but take a look at Takeru's leg after facing Superlek. I mean...dayum!!

Totally random video I pulled because it was brief. I could see how some listeners might find this delivery condescending. He also uses logic to make his point that I think those with the opposite view would also cite. Why? Because that farms engagement. It was once proven that people that hated Howard Stern listened to him twice as long. I don't listen to Pate a lot, but I can see why some would like him and why some would not. He is intentionally delivering content in a way that would elicit support and disagreement. They ALL do!

Not the Chiefs vs Niners over and over.

Also hilarious a billion dollar league would risk everything (while no one talks 🤔) just to gain an extra 10% viewership in a handful of games, versus decades of 16 games week in and week out... Folks will watch regardless. You don't risk your golden calf for something so marginal. And at least come up with a better storyline lol

I love Nico, but I seriously doubt he is generating $10M in revenues to the companies he's hyping, and to be worth $2M annually, he's got to be driving much more than that in sales. Maybe I'm wrong, but that would have to be a *lot* of beets. And even if Nico is driving that much business, I assure you the OT being paid $1M isn't. He's ultimately being paid because the businesses of Knoxville make far more when UT is good, and they know it is worth money to them to keep UT good. That isn't really NIL.

Um no. The majority of The Tennessean's demographic probably don't know who Nico is, but I promise the hotel owners well know how important UT's success is to their sales. So there is a strong justification to invest in the program, but NIL may not be the best vehicle. If athletes were employees, I think NIL will still matter, but not be the primary motivator. Look at the NFL. How many guys do you see in ads? Very few.

The point you replied to remains...Pate ripped and mocked Tennessee fans as soft, but kissed Sabans ass and took up for him over the same f'n thing...that is a fact.

I like Pate...but that was a good point...it happened and I lost some respect for Pate over it.

Yeah if Pate actually did this he is a hypocrite…defend him all you want but that is ridiculous
