Recruiting Football Talk VII

Cry me a river, Josh.

Is this all because Harbaugh went to NFL before he got the hammer from NCAA and national title vacated? Or is because old ass Saban retired? Mad cause he can't illegally pay for recruits and have the the upper hand like he did before it was legal to pay to play? But yeah elite coaches that make 7 to 11 mil in college are gonna leave SMH. NFL is actually worse. Just more self entitled, crybaby millionaire's on that side.

Do we have any current '25 5* WR recruits interested in us at this point? I don't think I have seen one--- There should be at least one to two with where we are right now as a program and our QB room...
If you don't know, it's because you're choosing to be willfully ignorant on the subject. There is a whole separate thread "Running List of Tennessee Targets in 2025 Class". It breaks them down by position, it shows relevant recruiting rankings, and even has links to On3 recruiting rankings. Almost all of those players have there very own thread in this forum.

I have found when it comes to podcasts people like different things. What I like in my favorite you may loathe. I am not a fan of Boogie, but my son loves him.

I can see some of both points of view on Pate, but you can tell who likes him by their defense of criticisms. An even better lightening rod example is Basillio. From 50k feet I think they all do similar things, just in different ways.

I try to remember these guys do somethings for money not better journalism. That helps.

Anyone wants to quit because the old ways of doing things are changing, then quit. That goes for our coaches, too.

As far as Pate is concerned, one weekend, after we all found out they would be changing the schedules, Pate mocked Tennessee fans saying, "Many Tennessee fans online are saying they should drop Alabama from the every year list." Pate laughed and said no no Vols fans. You're going to have to man up and keep playing them. He mocked Vols fans for being scared.

The very next week. Saban comes out and starts crying about possibly having to keep Tennessee and LSU on their schedule. Did Josh make fun of Nick for being scared? Hell no. He defended him.

I'm on X a few times a day and I don't remember any Vols fans crying about keeping Bama.

I listen to pretty much every episode.

Apparently, you're the one who doesn't listen to him much. (And considering what you think of him, why would you?)

He frequently brings it up when he's wrong. He owns it, but usually in a kidding or sarcastic kind of way. And his tooting his own horn is also in a kidding kind of way.

And he's very careful not to 'throw rocks' at others, which often gets him criitcized as sucking up. On the rare occasions he does, it's toward the "casuals", who often speak the loudest, but know the least.

I think you invented him being arrogant in your own mind. If he's arrogant what are actual arrogant people to you? Is he being confident or arrogant? Are you looking for a reason to dislike him because he's so likeable?

Wow dr Phil, was just an observation. I really don’t care that much outside of that.

Don’t tell @OrangenSC or @PlanetVolunteer. They evidently have a love affair with the guy.

What blew it was going away from the run game. Both of the first 2 drives of the second half were stalled because they started passing when the were gashing the 49ers for 8-9 yards per rush. Up by 14 you should run the ball until they stop you. Also Gibbs fumble sealed the game right after those 2 drives
Yep...I think that was the true coaching mistake.

I remember several vol fans wanting them off the schedule. Even volquest pushed that at times.

Do you remember when Pate defended the sanctity of our program and considered us a blueblood? This was during the Pruitt era! And reminded other college football fans of our sleeping giant status and thus brought that back up last year once we showed he was right about that. The dude has been critical of bammer fans too, calling a portion of them "trust fund fans"

But yeah, confirmation bias is a powerful thing my man!

Well said. He rarely doubles back either. He is a good engagement farmer the same way Finbaum is. Not my shtick telling me about memaw, but you do you.

Both can be true.

Seriously you must see an abundance of arrogance in your life of you think Josh Pate is too arrogant 😂

The same guy who literally had a segment confessing that he was a clown for some bad takes he had 😂

I'm not defending him because I have a love affair, I'm more shocked how anyone could possibly think he's overly arrogant.

So was my buddy, being right that is, whenever he said game over with 7 seconds left to go in the first half, and the Lions up by three possessions. After the game he even did a pretty good McGill impersonation...saying, "I can't believe no one else saw what only I did".

I actually made that last part up.
Lol..it took a ton of coaching errors in judgement and playcalling, bad execution by players, and just pure bad luck to blow that game....but they pulled it off. 🤷‍♂️

I feel bad for Detroit..this one is going to hurt forever.

To borrow a word his memaw's english teacher might have used - He is braggadocius.
