Wish I had such a horrible job making 7 figures, I know I wouldn’t be crying about it
I’ll gladly trade one of those guys living in big houses, driving nice rides, flying private jets making millions a year to coach a game my concrete company straight up lol
I wouldn't. You couldn't pay me enough to do what they do unless I felt like it was my calling from God. And i could see that possibility only if I was single.

In the past, I've passed on jobs that would've paid me a lot more money. Didn't want the time requirements and hassle that would've come with them.

More money doesn't guarantee a better life. I guess we all want different things in life.

This could be just as bad for us or even worse than the NCAA depending on who is on the panel. If it’s bama, uga, osu, michigan, they are just devising a way to keep their competitive imbalance advantages intact.

#cynical
I trust Skanks and crew about like I do the NCAA. The NCAA is just the German SS for the elite class of college sports.

I think they feel like they can spend $13 million on their team and get away with it, current NCAA in tact, but if the lawsuits are successful, then the playing field is leveled and their advantage and protection is gone. Thus I could see this as their way of attempting to maintain control. Start a new association that they still control.

That may not at ALL be what it’s about, but do you think they want to start a new association or advisory panel to help UT, make sure there is parity and competitive balance?
The OLD WAY didn’t have multi-million dollar price tags. You got em a car, a little running around money and their breadwinner a barely show up job. If you were a TOP talent like Tua, you rented the fam a palace they can proudly display on Draft Day. That doesn’t fly anymore and it ain’t going back. Nobody wants a dinosaur organization micromanaging what needs to be done to compete. Ohio State, UGA, Michigan et al have collectives actively doing the same or above what Spyre started. It’s not about UT…it’s self-interest.

I'm with McGill. I want College football not to bascially be a full on Pro sport. Not as interesting.
Many want this. It just isn't reality anymore...in fact it hasn't been for decades. These coaches of an apparently amateur sport have been making 6-7 figures for decades...

Maybe Mcgill still wants the players to parade around as amateurs and not be paid. But he's accepted reality and is moving forward with what is.

Lol wut? A separate group of games that allow performance enhancing drugs. Weird. The idea of banning PEDs is to ensure everyone on the same playing field. Either allow them (and make every drug available to every athlete) or don’t. But we don’t need a separate set of games. Pretty simple.
NASCAR vs F1

Completely different intent. Both serve a valid purpose.

To the NCAA……………We have decided to withdraw!!
Yours, truly
The SEC & Big Ten 😎
Imagine if this truly happened.

The new league, represented by ~30 teams...led by Bama, uga, osu...how quickly would they carry over the charges? Or create new charges against us?

It seems the only end to all of these dumb penalties is to stop making any and all payments illegal. And since players will have contracts, "tampering" won't be an issue.

Pro leagues don't have these constant cheating battles (based on payments, tampering, etc) because there is no need for them. That is, once again, the end game.

Taking the AA from 300+ schools down to 30 of your closest rivals will only intensify current issues, supposed rigging, etc. Have to take the root causes out of the system.

The major individual universities will not only continue within the system, but grow ten-fold in power once it is concentrated.

That’s my whole point. Hard for me to see a scenario where they wouldn’t want whatever organization comes from this to be a vehicle for them to maintain their unfair advantage.

Maybe it isn’t an OSU thing. Maybe it was a little nicky thing. Maybe he was the one being protected at all costs and now that he is gone things change? Idk. Like I said, I will believe they want a fair, level playing field when I see it.

Primarily - helping good kids achieve their dreams. Secondarily - say at the Checkerboard ($25/mo) level, you get access to events with players and fellow members, tailgates, etc. You get a Vol Cub tee and decals. You get access to all sorts of gear and autographed items. most of which are hard to come by through other sources. As you give at higher levels there are more benefits. But you can help even if only $5/month.
Can you send me link? Also, I assume the items are based on silent auctions?

NCAA is facing a hydra-- many heads and they'll keep coming.

UTK has not sued anybody. Spyre hasn't sued anybody.

This case was filed by the State of Tennessee and the Commonwealth of Virginia. But UT, players, boosters, collectives and other universities are all out there, waiting. The stakes are high, and there are many attorneys ready to make it rain. Your move, NCAA.

Coach Heupel goes out of his way to make sure he doesn’t have violations. At high school games, kids will come up wanting selfies and autographs. He will ask them if they go to school there if they look like students and if so, he will apologize and say he can’t because of NCAA rules. He’s that careful. They knew they had to be.
I personally know the parents of one of our current athletes. One day before an away game, we met with other Vol fans for lunch.

Of course, we fans wanted to pay for their lunch. They refused, and in fact paid for our lunch, because they were so concerned about the rules. I assume that was based on guidance from the athletic department.
