One thing that I am 100% positive about is that when DW hires someone that is not a former player or coach here, the meltdown on the LV forum will be epic. There will be "fans" who will now cheer against whomever the coach is just to prove that they are right. People will threaten to stop donating, stop attending games, stop supporting the team. Almost all of the people who make this claim will do exactly none of these things. Again, the meltdown will be epic and I am here for it.

I think there's going to be vocal negativity no matter what. People strongly disagree on who should be hired. Hard to find a compromise when people don't want one.

Talk about nuts. Nc St was nearly dead to rights. 87% FT shooter is going to ice it almost every time. Then they need a desperation 3. Then win in OT...then win the tourney final.

About a 1% chance if OT and finals are 50/50 each. And from that ~1% chance they make a freakinFinal Four!

99% chance they b**** and **** all offseason and talk about firing their HC.

When folks say variance and things outside your control can sometimes control destinies and entire perceptions of coaches, programs, etc...they're not wrong...

Because we never hated Fulmer/Majors or split over Pearl vs (whoever) or were underwhelmed by Heupel or got so pissed we nuked a hire (schiano) and on and on. Of course, we're gonna have disgruntled fans. That's part of it.

Everyone knows my thoughts on Kellie. No sense in rehashing. I figured it would go another year but I suspect internal pressures got unmanageable.

As to the hire, I suspect it won't be a well established coach. That's just not the Tennessee way. Danny White has given me no reason to doubt his abilities to get the right person. Regardless, I'm certain that many will be disappointed.

Whomever the hire is, the roster has to make significant gains to be competitive with other top programs. I certainly hope the coach is an intellectual savant when it comes to Xs & Os. We see it in the men's game all the time when small programs, despite being severely undermanned, compete with the big programs.

This forum was full on implosion when Heupel was announced and not a big household name...not an SEC guy...not this, not that.

Then folks settled into reality and got over it.

Think they'll be ok. They're fellow Vol fans who just want what's best and staunch in their opinion, right or wrong, not at all uncommon of rabid Vol fans. They're just being...crazy Vol fans
