For me, it's not about the young man so much as it is about how he's allowed to play unofficiated. He's allowed to travel, he's allowed to push off, he's allowed to throw elbows, he's allowed to spend as much time in the lane as he wants. Rules do not apply to him. And that's not necessarily his fault so much as it is the fault of his enablers, the referees who let him do any damn thing he wants.

This hire will test posters who believe Danny White hires only elite winners (as we’ve been told recently while debating Barnes).

Don’t get me wrong - I support DW and whomever he hires. But if he rolls out a name we don’t know, I will be fascinated to see how those posters respond.

I think he has some sort of ancient process he goes through to find his coaches.

Really though, his coaches haven't always been great everywhere they go, but they have always had tremendous success under him. I'm just waiting for everyone to realize it isn't simply the coach that he hires. . . it's the way he builds his athletic departments that make it easy for any decent coach to win at a high level. He gives them and the players every opportunity and resource needed and they do it with a great culture that's fun to be a part of.

The coaches aren't the stars of each program, it's the athletic department as a whole. I'm not sure we've ever had an athletic department like that across the board.

Of course it's all on him to pick a coach that fits perfectly in his vision. So, he could hire a trilobite as the next coach and I believe they'd have success if they fit in with what he thinks is needed.

Agree - it was obvious and we all knew it would happen if we are honest about it.

The committee chair said it came down to us and UNC for the last spot. That should say #5 plays in #4's bracket. We saw what happened from that point on.

Which makes going all black hat against the NCAA even more necessary and fun. If you know they are going to always mess with you, let 'em have it with both barrels. Make their lives miserable until you gain fair treatment or one of you bleeds out on the floor.

We put one right in their chest and those jerks are bleeding out on the floor...but they still have the strength to get off a shot or two that hurt us....this one hurt us.

I'd be confident moving us up to 4th ahead of UNC post-tourney. I think being behind them was questionable to begin with.

But we started welll behind Houston who was #2 most of the way. They only lost after their best player was injured and we only made it 1 more game than they did. For the entire year, I'd put us just behind Purdue as of now. Obviously Purdue would deserve the bump if they won. I'd have us 4th regardless of NC outcome.

Amazing season. Top notch team, but just short of elite for various small reasons.

I think this job is bigger than a Marshall hire, personally. If you're gonna spend the money to fire, buyout, and rehire you damn better be willing to go get the best. Otherwise what's the damn point?

I dont care personally, but some do. Just don't get it.

I bet you thought the football program was bigger that the UCF hire too didn't you?

So how do you evaluate the ceiling of a coach? I bet DW has some opinions about that, but I doubt any of us know. It was clear Kellie had reached hers, it appears that the "Marshall hire" has not. There is a reason they pay him 7 figures to do that job.
