I think the LVs got an upgrade and they are paying her less per year too.

Eventually she’ll have to recruit to make a Final Four. But if there are limitations with NIL for the Lady Vols a better coach & player developer is who you need I think. Win with less and the winning makes the recruiting easier.

I like that she is gettin' paid less, but has the ability to be the highest paid coach in America.

I get it. The issue is, he has not provided that. He just fired a coach for not being able to recruit at an elite level and hired a coach with even less experience in getting the kind of players the LVs need. And she will be forced to recruit out of the portal immediately. So we'll see.

Analytics are good "tools"...until they are not and your stupid rigidity gets your ass beat.

The NBA plays little defense and has no elite defensive teams...College still does.

or you could look at it another way…. It was the reason they made their first final four in school history. They ran into a team that will probably be back to back national champions… A team that is very difficult to beat bc of their efficient offense and clingum clogging the middle… Mid range shots are an extremely inefficient way to score.

You win with players. She's not going to compete in the SEC unless she gets the players. And she's going to be portal shopping with the same NIL that the past staff couldn't make work. I hope she can do more with less.

Bruce Pearl did alright with Buzz's players. The Bradshaw/Lofton years were my favorite BP teams. That was before NIL and transfers being immediately eligible to play. What I'm reading about Caldwell, sounds a lot like Pearl and his style those early years.

I think with UT's resources, the transfer portal, and NIL backing, Caldwell will have an "easier" time getting up to speed in the SEC. What Caldwell did at Marshall should help sooth the "old guard" but some people are just thick headed.

Announcing the hire today was a genius move by UT.

The new LV’s coach is really unknown but one thing that you pick up on is the extremely fast offensive pace and being 3rd in the nation in steals per game last year at Marshall. Think of a Rick Pitino Kentucky team basically. Very fun to watch on offense and defense. Will be interesting to see her Recruiting abilities matched with the scheme

Kinda surprised. Thought they would have at least matched KJH’s. But it’s easier to sell the doubters and Heupel proved that if she succeeds the pay goes up in short order.

Empathy my butt. Try to be human beings and trust the best AD in the country to what's best for the program. Try to look at a great track record, and an actual PLAN on offense. Give me a break.

I’m not saying it’s fun to watch but the best defensive team in college would get 100 hung on them by the worse offense in the NBA. The skill level is just different.

It is garbage...the elite athletes of the NBA COULD play awesome great defense and the rules could force offenses to play more fundamentally sound..but they don't or will not.

The athletes are great and offensively skilled...the play is NOT....it is slop.
