Recruiting Football Talk VII

The well-connected multi-centi-millionaire Tuohys' strategy now is almost surely to somehow bribe or otherwise compel or persuade a judge (or by some similar means) to force a settlement against the will of Oher and the public interest, in order to prohibit the collection of evidence.

Oher's attorney needs to go after all the NCAA and Ole Miss information and their communication with the Ohers, directly or through back-channels. The NCAA needs to be made an example of.

Who at the NCAA and Ole Miss was involved in this ad hoc "back-room" deal to knowingly excuse massive recruiting violations by means of an unprecedented conservatorship-in-name-only? Was there even a rule about "conservatorship," or did someone make that up on the spot?

It wouldn't hurt to collect evidence from Hugh Freeze, as well.

What do you guys think about the Tuohys admitting that they never had any intention of adopting Oher?

They talked about "adoption" frequently, but only with a super-secret "colloquial" sense in mind. 😂 This but-we-had-our-fingers-crossed-behind-our-backs excuse included their "adoption" businesses and speaking tours?

This is what we get for laughing at Mertz all off-season. He ends up being one of the most accurate passers in the country. Honestly surprised Rattler isn’t on this list.

I don’t really buy this. It’s easy to say that after we lost arguably our 4 best offensive players out of 11 starters last year. We’ve had receivers open and we’ve had the opportunities for explosive plays. But drops and inaccurate passes mixed with very poor OL play isn’t exactly a recipe for success. I would need to see at least an entire season, if not two, of poor offensive play for me to say Heupel has been “figured out.”
I mean, it’s true. Tennessee has been held under 38 points twice in its last 10 SEC games, but if you dive into the stats closer, you will see that both of those actually came in the last five games, so it’s a clear downtrend. Especially if all SEC games had to be played in Athens or Gainesville, which Mike Slive is probably about to make a rule.

And really it’s worse than that, because you’re not really “SEC” if you can’t hold Heupel’s gimmicky offense under 50, anyway.

Edit: Sankey, not Slive… stuck in the past.

I mean this just isn’t true. One of those games came against Georgia who had arguably the best defense in the history of the sport last year and the other was this year against Florida, which supports my argument that it’s a talent issue not a scheme issue. I can’t even count on two hands how many times a receiver has dropped a wide open touchdown that hit them in both hands or the times Milton has airmailed the ball behind a wide open receiver.

Just last week there was a slant across the middle where Squirrel didn’t have a single player in a country mile. He would have easily scored. Joe threw the ball behind him. Until I see our receivers struggle to get open on a consistent basis, I’m not buying this idea that our offense has been figured out.

I think the Ole Miss board might have an opinion.

More talent = Higher margin for error. Usually means better execution which means better results. It’ll all come together if UT keeps hauling in Top 10 classes

I was being sarcastic… the whole part about how we have scored less than 38 (!) points twice (!) in the last 10 (!) SEC (!) games didn’t tip you off? 😂

Admittedly the part about Slive making a rule that all SEC games have to be played in Athens or Gainesville was probably a little too on the nose…

He has only played one good defense in Utah
The other three games pass defense was terrible
Be interesting to see how he does against UK

Another subject...this Leopold being up for MSU job eeeh...I would stay at Kansas with Oklahoma and Texas leaving Big 12.. Kansas should be a top dog in conference every year...only competition should be Oklahoma State...you know grass isn't always GREENER on other side...
I don’t know why any coach would consider the Michigan State job. The contract isn’t worth the paper it’s written on if all it takes to be fired for cause, is a suspicious sexual harassment accusation. Frankly, if I were employed at that school in any capacity I’d be looking elsewhere .
