Anyone else perplexed why Heup doesn't get Nico in games at the end when game is no longer in doubt?

They've already said he's not red shifting, so why not let him get in a big environment like Saturday?

Itd kind of be a slap in the face to go in just for 2 minutes to hand it off 4 times, plus it would be his 3rd game of the season and you dont want to risk him losing his redshirt just to hand it off a few times, you want him to actually run the offense and throw it

Edit: I know he said he doesn’t plan on redshirting nico, but keyword is “plan”, the games could play out where he could only play against UCONN and Vandy and then still qualify for a redshirt

Kamal Hadden appreciation post. You'd never know it given the way he's talked about here but...

10 catches allowed on 26 targets / 38% completion percentage / 2.46 YPA / 2 INT (1 pick-six) / 0 TD / 5 PBU / 14.6 NFL QBR. Only 2 PI calls and both were against Austin Peay. Pretend those are 15 yard catches and you've got 12/26 for 3.6 YPA.

That's dominant, and if it's not apparent just how dominant, how would y'all feel if Milton had a game where he went 10/26 for 64 yards, 0 TDs, and 2 INTs with a pick six and a 14.6 QBR. How many would say, "Well Milton got a couple PI calls so it's still a good game" lol.

Among CBs with 20+ targets in the country:
1st in NFL QB Rating allowed
2nd in YPA
3rd in coverage rating (PFF)
8th in completion%

He's #1 in the SEC in every one of those categories.

View attachment 584059I didn’t catch this graphic because I was at the game but rewatched it on Freaks channel on YouTube. Thought this was interesting
I have said that the offense was pretty good all season, if all we did was passes to the flat and running plays we'd be fine, That does not fit the narrative of the average fan. They see shiny stuff, but what we're doing gets the job done just like long passes (and we've had them) not as entertaining, winning is entertaining. Last year was special (like '97), this is a different year as was '98.

Running the clock is not meaningful playing time

Yup....the dude has dramatically improved since last season....hell the whole secondary has improved...but you wouldn't know it by reading the posts on here.

I think part of it is just they want to give Joe more experience, he may be a 6th year guy but he has limited starts. Really sucks we've had some early struggles though with Cooper out of the lineup, games like Austin Peay & UTSA were games when getting bigger leads early would have been huge for Nico getting real series to run the offense.

Everybody's too busy trying to get mad at him for not turning his head around... not realizing that often it's a bad idea to turn your head around. That's just never gonna click for some unfortunately.

DB is the most exposed position on the field and even Joe Blow Four Teeth in the Recliner can see when a mistake is made. Also he runs his mouth a little too much at times and that exposes him to more criticism.

Hadden is a good player just one the infuriates you with boneheaded plays once and awhile, just like Jeremy Banks did

There was never a chance to get him in the game. 34-20 with 8 minutes to go in the 4th quarter isn’t a game that I’d feel safe to say is “secure.” We almost blew a 2 score lead against Florida last year in that exact scenario.

I know people want to see Nico play, but chances are you aren’t going to see him again till we play UCONN.

Hadden is our best DB, but it's mostly baptism by fire that's gotten him there. And watching that occur last season and even this season has been why folks still think he's bad.

I don't know if him turning and looking for the ball would yield more INTs or not, it's always easy in hindsight to say "if he had only turned his head" but last year he had plenty of plays where he turned his head too early and the catch was made behind him.

I think as the season continues and the DL keeps getting great pressure there will be more opportunities for picks from this secondary. A&M leads the conference in passing, so right after the Bye we'll be facing another pass heavy team and hopefully generate great pressure that leads to more picks for the secondary guys.

Slaughter. And it’s not even close.

Hell as a sports fan for 3 decades and counting I just want my sports to be the thing. Any/all "talking head" side bars are just annoying.

The kneeling to protest, Taylor Swift being at games, Lebron vs MJ, Bill Walton ranting about whatever, baseVOLS celebrations, etc. etc. just don't care for those discussions, regardless of opinion of each topic to me it's not related to the game and pointless discussion topics. I can't ever remember a John Ward called game having that sort of distractive discussion happening DURING THE game like seems to always be the case now. Even when we're winning games we suddenly got cut aways to show pictures of Jordan Rodgers and his family (last year's Vandy game) WHILE WE'RE PLAYING THE GAME. Not during a timeout or injury break, but as we're lining up to snap for the next play.

I DON'T CARE ABOUT ANY OF THAT. I just want my 2-3 hour escape from that BS to watch the game.

Slaughter. And it’s not even close.

Subjective vs Objective opinion. The numbers were already shared that Hadden isn't just OUR best DB, but the best in the SEC right now...but it's an objective production based comment.

Is he as physically and mentality gifted as Slaughter? Don't think so, but it's also not something you can prove with stats really either.

This tweet about that kills me. It’s not a right or left thing. Sports fans are just sick of seeing and hearing about her instead of the football game or sports talk they actually flipped to ESPN for. She’s not even sports adjacent. No one in our sphere gives a **** about her. That’s why there’s such a backlash.

Hahaha. Saw that on the replay. I want a gif of that. No reason to have the chair, but I love it.

I didn't expect to win then. I dreamed of winning. . . I just expected to see some sort of improvement or being competitive a little. Rough times.
Here is the difference between us...I think we are a better program now that has a decent-excellent chance of winning against most other programs...I acknowledge the hopefulness that fact brings with it, it is good to feel that way again, but unlike the over-optimists I also see the still unoptimal roster problems we have....pretty much anybody with a real pulse can beat us, (see Florida for most recent example) and even destroy us (see South Carolina last year) on a day we don't play very well...I will EXPECT to win against anybody again when those roster issues and a couple staff issues are fixed.

We walk a knife edge now...injuries and suspensions can play havoc on our ability to win...a significant injury on OL (Coop) and LB (Pili), and Mincey and others being suspended (or whatever it was) caused a loss to Florida for example. What REALLY freaks me out is unreasonable over optimistic expectations causing the brain dead to go toxic.

You may not be one of those, but most of those idiots do not perceive or acknowledge roster issues...they just think "we are going to win" and then go off the freakin deep end when 💩 happens because the idiots did not see why it could happen...then they start questioning EVERYTHING and that toxicity bleeds over into everything.
