Anyone own a Jetta? Thoughts/opinions
I owned one of the diesels they recalled for that EPA software test scam.

Absolutely LOVED it! Amazing how much usable space it had inside... was so much fun to drive, whether throwing it into curves or just sittin' comfortable for 12 hours on the interstate... and great fuel mileage (though China's usage raised the global price of diesel drastically after I had bought it).

I took the money VW gave me on the settlement and bought a 2016 Honda CR-V, only because I knew I was going to need a trailer hitch, and that was the most economical car with usable interior space that would take a hitch. But it's no fun to drive.

If VW is still emphasizing fun-to-drive with lots of interior space, give it a serious test drive.

But if you're used to doing your own maintenance, ask some detailed questions. Even just changing an oil filter on "German engineering" can be an exercise in removing components just to gain access.

Fortunately not. Just had to replace the battery. Not even 40k on it and it’s a 17. I do a lot of my own repairs, so we’ll see parts cost when I get there. Rock Auto is my go to.
It's not the parts, it's the process. At least for the German cars I've had the displeasure of owning, you have to basically dismantle the entire engine for any basic repair.

I had a water pump go out on my audi, and it was going to cost over $4000 to replace. The part itself was $175. That was over 10 years ago before crazy inflation. A bunch of online forums had a ton of people saying similar things. But if you're handy enough to do it yourself, you probably will be OK.

Son-in-law was quoted $1200 to repair his truck’s A/C, and told $750 was for the condenser. I showed him the best on Rock Auto for $230 and he is putting it on today with his buddy.
I buy everything from there. Had to replace the ECT Sensor on my wife’s Enclave. Auto Zone- $35, Rock Auto- $12. Easy choice.

Unfortunately, most cars seem to be disposable nowadays, I have a 94 gmc 2 door yukon and the trans went out at 280k miles. I got the trans completely rebuilt with corvette servos and shift kit for 2200. Makes me wonder, how many newer vehicles will be around in 30 years . If it isn't a Toyota or made in America, I'd stay away.

Check out Scotty Kilmer on YouTube. He's a mechanic that goes into detail on all brands of vehicles

See..I look forward to that with all my heart, it is more real to me than this cesspool world run by lunatics..but..it is what's coming before that, that I do not look forward to. I will do what I have to do, and proclaim what I believe louder than ever, and whatever happens to us...happens.

Just because I am resigned to it...doesn't mean I have to like it.
This is why you’re a VN treasure 😘.

Well, the dumb mother ****ers who came up with this can live with their own stupidity.

I mean, if the answer to the question was. Did we really need a robotic sweet tea machine? Did we really need an automated lawn mower? Is driver less car driving, truly necessary? Does a damn robot really need to write my term paper for me?

Or am I (as a society) just too effing lazy?

Sounds like we're headed toward WALL-E at warp speed.
