Recruiting Football Talk VII

It's tiresome to watch you guys do this lol. The coach lies and you want the entire media to own it like it's straight from the mouth of Dear Leader.

If Heupel wants his injury notes to be taken seriously he could tell the truth. Or he could keep making things up and keep having the media note that. It doesn't make a bit of difference to me and I'm sure he couldn't care less what Wes thinks.

The deep, yearning desire for the local media to be straight propoganda for the AD is crazy. Anyone who thinks the local media guys who have been covering crap football teams for 20 years don't want them to be good is a dumbass. But they have an actual job. If you don't like it, don't read it. You can turn off the press conferences after Heupel’s opening statement every time.
Again
Wes is an entitled bitch
**** him
The local media are the first ones in line with pitchforks and gasoline at the first sign of any drama…..

Wes has done made too many ******** comments in his career to be a respectable media member

Coaches have used injury reports to manipulate game preparation since the dawn of sports. Seems like Rucker doesn't realize this and, in an unprofessional way, tries to paint coach as a dishonest person.

He needs to do his job and leave out the stupid commentary if it's unprofessional or tries to paint a narrative that could hurt the Vols. I'm OK if he wants to do that to bama or any other teams we play, but don't do it to the home team (he'll look like a bottom-shelf "journalist" either way)

Worst case scenario, it makes Heupel seem like a liar & takes away an advantage coach could be trying to create & all advantages help. . . best case scenario is Rucker only makes himself look like an unprofessional hack, trying to start rumours or gossip. It's a no win scenario, so why do it it all. . . unless you are a dimwit, 2nd rate hack?
This x2

Whatever Heupel is or isn’t doing on this subject doesn’t bother me, and the fact it vexes the overly sanctimonious media serves as a bonus.

We might be Bama, but it being on the road makes it a tough ass game.

Until we figure out how to play winning football on the road, I can’t make myself believe we beat Bama at their place. I think we caught LSU in the perfect situation last year. Early in the season with a new coach, still trying to figure things out, plus an early morning game. Haven’t had the same success against any other quality team on the road. Hoping this team figures it out so we don’t have another UF type game at bam.

To be clear...CJH is completely entitled to do what he does with respect to player availability. No criticism from me on that.

With that said...he does have a history of giving information that may or may not be true...and one might consider his interaction with the media to be a bit of a game. Which is totally fine with me. I deserve nothing and he's free to do what he wants.

By extension, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the media to present info offered to them tongue-in-cheek with a certain degree of skepticism.

By pointing that out I guess I am a bad person.
If you’re killing nuns, that makes you a bad person. This is a non-issue.

If I was Huepel’s social media manager, I’d tweet at Rucker “What advantage does my football team have by me telling you if a player will play or not this weekend?”

Let's hope we don't replicate UKs performance this weekend against Georgia when we play Bama.

I live in Ky and tried to tell my co-workers “y’all do this every year, beat a bunch of nobodies to start 4-0 or 5-0, get your hopes up and then when you get into your SEC schedule, you realize you ain’t who you thought you were”. Some people never learn.

Thought this was interesting…..

According to Kentucky.com, Stoops’ comments were made in response to a disgruntled fan who asked Stoops about Kentucky’s struggles vs. elite teams in the SEC.

“Fans have that right, I give it to them. I just encourage them to donate more, because that’s what those dudes are doing,” Stoops said, via Kentucky.com. “I can promise you Georgia, they bought some pretty good players. You’re allowed to these days. We could use some help.”

Stoops also said fans should “pony up” if they’re frustrated with the program’s struggles vs. teams like Georgia.

Kentucky puts all their eggs in the basket for Basketball...even though Calipari is an @$$ he was being truthful..when he said Kentucky is a Basketball school..Stoops makes good cash for 7-5 and the occasional 8-4..Kentucky football fans should just go with it..I remember when they were Vanderbilt years ago..

"Should" yes, but when we're expected to lose 40% of the time, it's hardly a strong "should" either.

Wouldn't say disappointing, but do agree the momentum into a likely Bama loss would be rough. Being 4-3 with UGA, Mizzou, UK left would not be a great view. Somehow 5-2 feels like a success.

Honestly just want the win so we can enter a HYPE game vs Bama.
I agree with you. Should is a strong word in this case. For goodness sake, we're only like a 4-point favorite. That doesn't equal should.

And another poster said this game is the one that will tell us about Heupel. Seriously? Well, you know, they're unranked.

It seems some either don't watch much cfb, or don't learn much from it.

But once again we have fans using "their" expectations to set up justification for criticism later.

Cf. Saban before our game last year. Oh yeah, you joined the entire national media in complete arse-sniffing credulity and breathlessly repeating his continual "lies," (as you call them) helping Saban along to the utmost of your power. Just like the Knoxville media. And never even called out Saban's "lies" (your word) in retrospect.

Yours is not a principled objection.

If Saban before our game last year was a 100 -- without you calling him out on lying and attacking Bama fans over it -- now you're all the sudden Mr Moral-ist-ic-al-ness when Heup registers a 2.5 on the Saban scale. 🙄 Spare us your sanctimony.
