Devo, my grandparents were also actually in RicevilleHad a mamaw and pappaw with cows as well and made gravy every breakfast...near Athens, technically Riceville...did you steal my mammaw and pappaw?
I don't know. I hate NFL, its rigged every week. Best bet is probably a player prop. What’s the MNF bet? @Enki_Amenra
You'll note that I haven't made predictions, because I'm neither an optimist nor a pessimist. So you really think our OL against their defensive front is more than a wash...at best?
Great. Now look what you've done. Half the VN crazies are unleashed on the poor folks that live there now...Devo, my grandparents were also actually in Riceville
Exit the interstate, then west over the ridge. First right, then the first farm on the right
Did my pappaw have a separate secret family, haha??
I really believe Neyland Stadium will be the difference in the game this week.Agree, it's not even close to any sort of upset for either team. Vegas is saying we're 2 even teams. But we have Neyland.
People overreacted to losing to UF calling for 6-6. And after 1 game have swung to the opposite end. I don't get it. Tamu lost to Alabama by all of 6 pts. Tough game. Neyland has to take this into our own hands and be the x-factor.
Last season Ulysses pumped up the opposing team strengths and downplayed our positives, but it was a reverse-jinx ploy. Fingers crossed he’s living in that world again, and I applaud his commitment. You'll note that I haven't made predictions, because I'm neither an optimist nor a pessimist.
I liked what I saw in the OL, with Mays back, and I liked what I saw in our defensive backfield per tackling in space against USCj. It wasn't just that USCj did some things badly. This team did a lot of new things better/well.
I also saw that Mays was gassed in the USCj game, due to his inability to stay game-ready conditioned while injured. I think he'll be even better Saturday, so I think the OL trajectory will probably be toward improvement from Saturday as opposed to regression.
I also think home crowd will be rabid and do their part to take the game over.
So, in my mid, I see us as favored. I'm not calling for a guaranteed win and never have. If you want a strawman to pick on, find someone else. But I like our chances Saturday better than theirs, so CHOOSE to go through the week with confidence while realizing that I can be disappointed.
And that is a difference you don't point out when dropping your subtle jabs at the alternate mindset. I'm not trying to be insulting, but I'll point it out since we're this far into the conversation.
You've said that disappointment is devastating to you, so you choose not to allow yourself hope (paraphrasing). That's what I meant when I said you seem to make fear a virtue. The difference is that there are many of us on here that won't wilt with a bit of disappointment. We're able to meet it head on when it comes and continue with our lives.
That means that we're also able to choose hope and not constantly rake the soil in search of reasons to expect catastrophe.
You do you, man. And I don't begrudge you your mindset. As a matter of fact, I couldn't imagine living that way, so you have my best wishes. But it's a bit too much to see you posting that kind of fear as "realism", and the side of the street the rest if us should be walking on.
Peace, amigo.
I'm no Wes apologist, but it isn't unfair to point out that info coming from CJH regarding player availability should be viewed with skepticism."So yeah ... we'll see."
Wes displays here an absolute ignorance of football, leadership, tactics, prudence, and common sense. Reader appears compelled to choose between troll and idiot as an assessment. But the combo is not logically excluded.
Why are we not allowed to have decent local media? Why does he think anyone wants to hear him snark at our coach?
That tends to be McGill's modus. It's ok. He will love to have been wrong, if that result can be brought to fruition. And McGill does understand football. GBO!Last season Ulysses pumped up the opposing team strengths and downplayed our positives, but it was a reverse-jinx ploy. Fingers crossed he’s living in that world again, and I applaud his commitment.
If he wants to play a game with info, then why would you expect the media to treat what he says as anything other than a game? And what is the correct way to report on a game? "Day 736. CJH said yet more stuff he knows isn't true. Maybe tomorrow."It's unfair, ignorant, or preening.
What CJH is doing should be appreciated as non-idiotic.
Wes's first sentence was good reporting. Wes's second sentence was making it all about himself. Even his mom can see that.If he wants to play a game with info, then why would you expect the media to treat what he says as anything other than a game? And what is the correct way to report on a game? "Day 736. CJH said yet more stuff he knows isn't true. Maybe tomorrow."
I don't blame him for doing it, but neither do I blame the media for treating it the way they do.
"So yeah ... we'll see."

It's tiresome to watch you guys do this lol. The coach lies and you want the entire media to own it like it's straight from the mouth of Dear Leader.Honesty lol
He didn’t get told an answer he liked so he pouted and took a shot complaining
He’s an entitled bitch
