It was very generous of us to show Kent State's special teams coordinator the flaw in his kickoff alignment.

You can't tell our kicking team to play sawft, much less in the first quarter. Not the culture one wants to build. The kicker and kicking team want to show Heup and Ekeler that they know their reads, do what they're taught, and do it successfully. That call didn't come from the sideline.

I agree with your overall point, but there isn't a kicker/kicking unit in the universe who would make the call to onside kick without the coach.

Well, it looks like there are quite a few more riders on Doc's bandwagon today. Some will admit it and some are still afraid to come out of the closet about it. What do your eyes tell you: not what some analyst or talking head says? What happens when you cast away the BVS chains?

Our guys can win every game because they are good to great on both sides of the ball with special teams being adequate to good. Still need to stay healthy and not get screwed by Sankey's striped shirts. But it feels like '98.

I love the computer rankings...

They're well-defined, updated quickly in Saturday nights or early Sunday, they are strictly objective....

Same, but our defense is MUCH better than ‘22. Our offense doesn’t have to be perfect every game.
