Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I don’t like the name. Sounds scummy.

Call it a “personnel development surcharge” or “student-athlete support fee.”
I'll admit it. I'm not a fan of the fee. Ten percent now. How much later? Of course, I don't like college football, in essence, becoming another Pro league.

I’m a BEARS fan who’s perfectly fine with our current QB situation…especially considering our history. Rookies make mistakes…tons. It’s when they repeat them and project defeat in their body language that starts the clock for me. We have a win and a six point loss to a loaded playoff team. Why would I panic? 😏

Typical bears fan🙄 play it cool because you have a defense..unfortunately for bears fans it takes points to win there Mike dicka…I mean Ditka😭😂😂😂😂

It is direct pay for play versus indirect. If you want to know why Bama and UGA were kicking our assess prior it is because they had a really strong indirect pay for play. Players got cars from Saban's dealership and jobs for parents etc in the area. If you want to know why TN has skyrocketed onto the main stage it is because we are now directly and openly compensating players at some of the highest levels. Bama and UGA hate it and are scrambling to catch up.

Everyone loves winning and no one loves paying the tab. If we all do what we can less have to do a lot. This is the secret sauce of Spyre. We have more grass roots participation than almost every program.

For those not happy with ticket prices or NIL this may not be well received.

Specifically calling it out is dumb. No other sports leagues tell you what part of tickets go to pay contracts. Once the schools start paying players it's a professional sport. Don't put it on the fans to feel like they need to cover the extra. They are already paying for tickets and the schools making a ton of revenue from media/sponsorship deals that should be going to the players.

If you go to the games, stop donating. If you can't make it to the games, keep donating. If you want to keep donating and going to games, great.

Point of revenue sharing was to give the players a cut of the already HUGE pie they're mostly responsible for, an add-on fee means the fans are basically on the hook for paying for it.

Scrolling on my TL. It’s obviously troll bait. But can any Memphis fan give a legitimate X’s and O’s reason besides throwing out “Memphis mane” “Whoop that trick” or “Nothing sucks like a big orange”?

There is a possibility that we could see Memphis and Tennessee matched up in the CFP as 5/12 seeds.

And the people at the top, making major money from all of this, incur very minimum cost. It happens in all other industries in this country. Sports is no exception. I wonder how this affects resale ticket. I guess those ticket prices rise too, to offset the 10% increase in cost.
