Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Why is the UT logo the only one that is not the appropriate color for the school? On3 hates UT? That is the only reasonable conclusion we can draw.

Oh you mean this?? He said it himself “it’s the most accurate way to look at it”

Average recruit.
2016: 6th in SEC
2017: 6th in SEC
2018: 8th in SEC
2019: 6th in SEC
2020: 7th in SEC
2021: 6th in SEC
2022: 9th in SEC
2023: 6th in SEC
2024: 6th in SEC

ADVANTAGES BABY!!!!! There’s a reason I didn’t respond to it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think that you are burying your head in the sand if you can't notice the elevated talent that has been brought in (and remained here) since NIL. Football has benefitted incredibly from our NIL collective. Baseball and Basketball as well.

Good players want to go somewhere with a good NIL collective (and stay there). Families of good players want to deal with good NIL collectives.

Good coaches want to go to a program with a good NIL collective. Good assistants want to go to a program with a good NIL collective.

Good players are fun to watch and breed success. Both of those things gain eyeballs, which generate revenue for the AD, the university, the conference and the networks.

Through solid leadership, innovation and the advent of NIL, we were able to prop ourselves up and then immediately compete. Across the fanbase, we all agree that Donde, Randy and Danny are the best things to happen to our AD in decades. We applaud their decisions and cheered them on when they told the NCAA to shove it. They have creatively navigated us out of rock bottom. If they think that this is a good idea for the success of our AD and our continued happiness, I think we have to see what they can do. They've been miles ahead of everyone else.

Make no mistake about it, NIL was a game-changer for us, and we got lucky that we have people around and in the AD that knew how to use it to our advantage immediately. Everyone across collegiate sports thinks that we've done it the right way, and are trying to replicate what we do. The ones that thought we were wrong watched in disbelief as we slayed the NCAA.

It has been an advantage for us, and as long as we trust Donde and Danny to keep piloting this rocketship, we will continue to win national championships, we will continue to win recruiting battles, we will continue to be admired and emulated.

Does this include transfers? Just curious how it would look when you include players like Heard. McCoy, Bru, and Pilli. Just looking at average recruit doesn't mean as much in the age of easy transfers and NIL.

Just watched a video on YT by some Gen Z pasty faced incel dip💩 that called Heupels monster a "Fake Offense" and of course the oft repeated insulting sobriquet "gimmicky" even as he says it is unstoppable..🤪

I am sick of these ignorant fools...it makes me want to leave our starters out there and score 80-100 points and 1000 yards every time we get a chance...we should NEVER take our foot off the throttle.

The pure arrogant stupidity is extremely aggravating.

The point of football is to use every means available to matriculate the ball down the field, to take the opposing defenses ground and to take his end zone.....there is nothing else.

I will never understand these jealous fools...

They can up the charges but keep the FCS schools at less than $50 a ticket. Those are the perfect games to take the whole family and enjoy the atmosphere, pageantry and game. It's outrageous that those tickets were $80 for nosebleeds
JMO, and probably not a popular one, but I think every team on the schedule should be an FBS team. Not a fan of FBS Teams playing FCS teams.

Some teams are going back to old school football ground and pound. Setting up the pass.

People can Call Jim Harbaugh a piece of **** all they want but his Chargers are 2-0 with the run game as primary offense with a multi million dollar QB playing game manager.
It's cyclical...it was obvious to me and, I said this a few years ago to the guys on here as we were discussing NFL offenses..that as teams got lighter, faster and quicker to defend these modern passing games that somebody was going to think it would be a good idea to load up on some road graders and start bulldozing those defenses.

I was told I was dumb, that it would hever happen...but I said..why? and nobody could give me an adequate response.

It just seems logical to me. If somebody were to really load up with a modern version of the Hogs or early 90s Cowboys and run a physical tough beast RB behind that line...who is going to stop them for a whole game with these light quick LBs and Safeties?...especially in this era of zero depth?

I would love to see more diverse offensive philosophy and a return to the physical running game.

And Harbaugh is a pile of runny 💩

Yep
But make the FCS game the spring game….
Charge 50 for lower bowl and 25 for top bowl and donate all earnings after operating costs are removed to NIL also

Sounds like a game where our TE room can feast, if the LBs are too slow to hang with them they'll be used in shorter routes and crossing as underneath options if Nico isn't getting time.
The TEs may feast (because they’re good), but I think 4 WR is a better base personnel here. OK is big on defense but not fast. If they keep numbers inside, at least one side of the field will be 1v1. If they put numbers wide, run off tackle or wide zone and make those big guys run laterally. RPO straight at any conflict defender.

I’d play speed against size until OK shows they have the horses.

Bringing TEs on the field can make LBs cover, but it also lets OK keep more guys close to the ball—guys that can be used to disguise pressure and play both run and pass.

I didn't say he was bad. He also made some incredible throws that wowed the entire stadium. He is what he is...an insanely talented, future NFL QB who is just in his first few starts at a higher level of competition.

Remember, he's not even played a full game yet in his collegiate career. He's still relatively inexperienced and growing before our eyes.
I know...but we are already nitpicking the kid to death.

He was sharp until the last couple of drives...I think he got frustrated and bored because they would not let him do what he wanted to do. His last 3-4 passes were out to the flat and were not good.
