Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Its a pretty clear push to me. Doesn't take much to make someones trajectory change like that when you're running at full speed
I don’t know, maybe you are right, the video you posted just plays an ad and then crashes on my phone. I just remember changing my mind after the play.

Not sure if Oregon would jump Miami - voters love Ward
But some of those AP voters will think Miami should have lost to VT. I think the call of a TD on the field was wrong, but I also believe there wasn't enough video evidence shown to overturn it, even though they did. I think some of the AP voters will feel the same and leave Miami at #7. Meanwhile, Gabriel at Oregon seems to have found his rhythm, so they'll jump them ahead of Miami, and probably UGA.

I posted it on my computer. its from espn highlights and wasn't sure how it'd work on mobile...

Nimrod is not the starter and who do you think Nimrod spells when he comes in? We've literally said the same thing. Get Matthews more snaps. I didn't say he should start over Squirrel lol

FWIW on the depth chart they currently have Staley at slot behind Nimrod and Squirrel, and Matthews behind Webb and Bru. I have a hard time believing Matthews won't have earned more snaps than Webb or Nimrod by the end of the season.

1) he’s not a slot. So when you say “when he’s in slot” you mean when he’s out of position or we’re running 4 wide and Mike and squirrel are flipped. Which can happen, but I dont foresee it being a situation where he’s coming in to spell our starting slot specifically, but could see more situational use in the slot when we want all weapons on the field and squirrel is wide or opposite

Regardless, I’m talking overall reps in a game. Whether he spells squirrel or not. If he’s taking more slot reps, the overall reps he’s taking are nimrod and Staley’s not squirrels.

I personally think he’ll be out wide more and Webb will be on the sideline more.

So yes, you’re right, we said the same thing but meant two different things

Nimrod and Webb have absolutely improved in the limited snaos they've had. I trust them on the field. Maybe I'm just being overly hopeful, but I think Matthews is elite and is that much better.

I agree with all of this! Just don’t think he’s taking squirrel’s reps. Webb though

The bama game makes what Josh did at Oklahoma even more impressive.

Bama got up huge and tried control the game and kill the clock - exactly what UT did.

However, they couldn’t lean on their D like usual and made impatient mistakes.

UT was disciplined and had the defense to lean on that lead and just burry them.
