Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Yeah, all 4 and 5 year guys you mention there with over 20 starts under their belt.

Our qb has 6 starts (that includes tonight).

Milroe just Lost to VANDY.

You conveniently ignored my point about the last drive defense.

You’ve made my point. Thanks
Bruv, this team is a good QB away from being legit. If you can't see that, then you can't see

would have been nice for kitselman to not drop 10 passes this game
Well you would think that the pass catching TE would be on the field when we are in must pass situations. Strange that he is not playing. He is a weapon, especially over the middle of the field.

I agree with you, but the defense also gave up multiple 3 & longs and gave up 60 yds rushing on their final drive for a TD.

There’s blame for everybody tonight

ARK was 6-16 on 3rd down (although I don’t know how many of the 6 were 3rd and long)

That was your typical tim banks defense. His defenses look awesome as long as he doesn't have to defend the pass. If the other team can pass their qbs all of a sudden become Heisman candidates. The Dline has masked that for the 1st 4 games.
To be truly fair, McCoy was great is pass D and they completed 3 or 4 balls over him that were just perfect throws (typical for our luck)

Playcalling was awful. Effort was awful. Both sides of the ball seemed somewhere else most of the night. Early in the game it felt like SC 22 all over again. Arkansas wanted that game but we didn't really seem to care until the 2nd half and even then we didn't want it that much.

Conservative play calling prevents rhythm…sounds silly as hell but it’s a thing…this one is on the coaches…the ball game was played close enough we could have squeaked this one out but it never should have been close anyway.

Here is what I see.

- The play calling all year has led me to believe that there is a lack of confidence in Nico to make the right read, or a lack of confidence in the o-line to pass protect. Or both.

- When we do seem to pass block, about 50% of the time, Nico just doesn’t throw the ball. I can’t see the whole field, so I won’t call those coverage sacks. Maybe they are. Idk. He holds onto the ball a lot. For whatever reason.

- The film is out there now. Teams are gonna make us win throwing the ball. We gotta figure it out.

The play calling comment is spot on at least against SEC caliber teams. I think the issues with the offensive line are even worse than what we see. Outside of Mays you have a bunch of upperclassmen journeymen who hit their ceilings a long time ago. Missing on Mauigoa and Seaton hurts. You also are playing with a QB which is talented but only has about 6 starts.

Not an excuse or blaming officials, but that might be the worst called game against us to a team not named Bama or Georgia I have seen.

Not one holding call on their OL and not one defensive secondary penalty. And plenty very obvious ones occurred right in front of officials.

Could be part of the reason our WRs can’t get separation.

We are a good QB away from being legit and undefeated
********. This o line is garbage, the QB isn't ready, but if the o line were competent we win that game easily. The issue is o line, was the reason we went conservative against OK and the reason we ran heavy against NCSt. They can't protect and communicate effectively to cover the rush.

High school QB’s know better than that.

@JacketVol brother come back Monday with clear thoughts.you know damn well this game should have never been close and it was only close because of the play calling…defense was getting stops all night.it was a low scoring game for a reason both sides have a good defense.

From what I can remember, most of the ones they converted were 3&5 and longer. They did have one 3&short and rushed for it barely but the rest were long I do believe
