Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Indeed. And the question becomes what adjustments can Heupel make to fix it? I think it’ll be hard because of the offense Heupel runs, a lot of people don’t realize his passing plays are majority choice routes, and a lot of RPO’s. That means the defense is literally dictating what our QB and WR’s do. I think running more power runs and 12 personnel will help a lot
Agreed, tonight we just got out coached. We played conservative thinking the defense could win it again. Heupel has been leaning on the defense but the way this game played out it was screaming for offensive production.

We called the game conservative, it was played conservative. The low score favored the home team.

It's obvious Heupel doesn't trust his QB or o line or both. There will be no growth if he doesn't challenge. I expect that to change going forward..... Nothing left to lose. You're on the outside looking in unless you best GA and AL now and handle the rest.

STFU, you couldn't make me angry if you tried.

For all intents and purposes it is over. We were expecting playoff. The only way that happens now is wins against Bama and Georgia....... We couldn't handle Arkansas. Both those teams are at least a tier or two above the team we played tonight.

You are splitting hairs pretending there's a difference between no good play and a wing and a prayer..... It's the same damn thing.... Throw it up and wish for the best....... Especially considering our receivers haven't won the play all night.

Like I've said all night I'm not going to fault the kid for trying to get another play in..... Except maybe for believing. Because this o line and staff coached and played a bad game. But so did he..... Pretending this is on him is about as dumb as dumb gets.

Have a good night!
The last play is on him you waterhead. He ran out of bounds on the last play of the F'N game. I'm Not splitting hairs, I never said there wasn't a play to be had, you did.

And no the season isn't over, what a beta attitude. Vandy is multiple tiers below Bama and would you look at what happened.....they aren't thinking the season is over.

But I'm sure we will see you basking in the joy when we beat Bama at home and claiming how it's such a great win.

GFY.

Agreed. We made all the excuses in the world for CJH last season, many of which were valid. But this season has made us all look foolish and like we should’ve been questioning his play calling all along. It’s like we were sold a bill of goods about our coach being an offensive genius, when he’s now being bailed out by the defense on a weekly basis.
We’re 4-1 and top 10 in the country lol.

I’ve seen that be a trend lately. I’ll wait till you post one to tail
I’ll post a bunch from this discord I’m in tomorrow.

It’s like $5 and you get access to all the Twitter cappers that charge for their groups, which is usually like $40.

Someone hacked them and made this group lol.

I mean I get it, but ultimately, they’re a bunch of kids so we should expect inconsistency, especially the new guys/starters.

People like squirrel sucking is unacceptable though
The entire wr room was underwhelming tonight. Squirrel has speed but not much wiggle or elusiveness in the open field.

We always seem to struggle finding nitches for our receivers. Last year we used Thornton as slot when that isn't what he's best suited for. Not finding ways to get the ball into our playmakers hands is worrisome. That used to not be an issue but has been a problem since last year.

We move the ball even a bit second to last series and we win. Instead, we couldn't do anything. 14 points? Frustrating. Nico hasn't looked good last couple games. Wild to be relying on defense. I kind of miss the long bal of 2022.

We know Tn has 2 plays in the play book. Screen pass and up the middle. Ran wide 1 time for about 15 yards and never again. Its the same offense as last year.

That was targeting on Miami

Remember when Heup said this “I pulled back a tad just because the way our defense was playing, hell of a job”
He didnt pull back , it was the same plays in the OK game. This offense is bad

The offense in structure, flow and in game play calling all went south when he left. Hard to argue with.

Got an easy counter point to this. Know who else left after 22?

Cade Mayes, Darnell Wright, Jalin Hyatt, Hendon Hooker. Goleshs offense at USF doesn’t exactly light it up against competent teams. CJH trusted Hooker and that 22 oline. He does not trust this oline or Nico right now. He better figure something out.

Wow Miami completed the comeback. Crazy.

That was some dirty dealing by the refs. They blew, somehow, an obvious targeting penalty which would've ended the game. Then, they missed not one, but two guys blocking illegally downfield on the TD pass. Meanwhile, Miami's schedule has zero top 25 teams on it and yet they should've lost the last two weeks with competent reffing.

Got a counter to this..... Who was responsible for developing those players? Why haven't we been able to recruit/replace/develop similar type players since those guys left?

Golesh doesn't have access to the same caliber players at UCF.

folks we didn’t appreciate Darnell and Cade enough

Hendon ? CJH, Golesh and Joey I would say all helped him.
Oline? Hard to say Just two really talented guys the former staff got here.
Hyatt? Also a find by our previous staff but was developed by our current staff for sure.

I just don’t think there’s enough evidence to say 22 was only a great offense because of Golesh. Our oline was alright last year but Milton did not read the field very well. Limited the playbook. Now we have a freshman playing behind a struggling oline. Would Golesh draw up plays to overcome a flaw he never had to deal with? Maybe. But I doubt it. I think it’s CJHs offense, always has been, always will be. CJH and Joey are struggling this year, no doubt. Just don’t think it’s fair to act like they had nothing to do with 22 and it was Golesh. That’s just a coping method at this point.

Even against teams with equal talent, Golesh doesn’t always light up scoreboard at USF.
